Probably because they are doing their traffic shaping using technology that employs deep packet inspection aka layer 7 classification and analysis. Changing tcp ports will do nothing as the packet will still be classified as bittorrent and deferred into their "bulk traffic" queue. I can't believe they would poke a hole in their system for VoIP traffic when the same system should be able to successfully classify and mark that traffic as well.

Even better. i've heard the bandwidth CAP is 100 gigs a month on the extreme service, CAN ANYONE VERIFY THIS?

Roger's documentation shows only a 60 gig cap..

Roger/Bell-less is good!

HA-HA points and laughs.

Ever since i moved to _just_ outside roger's customer area and went with ACI, I get speeds from 40KB/sec - 1200KB/sec (Yes that is Kilobytes or just over 1Meg/sec) from torrents and various other traffic.

Yes, it is 100 GB, actually it's like 102, but whatever...

Is ACI Aurora Cable? I wish I could get their service, they advertise 9 Mbps down speeds. Also, I think they offer way higher upload speeds, which interest me more.

And I suppose for the sake of clarity you should write it as 1 MBps, so as not to confuse it with the much less impressive 1 Mbps....

Yah, ACI = Aurora Cable. They were ranked within the top 5 of the fastest isps worldwide a few weeks ago on dlsreports.com.

The upload speeds are pretty good as well..In a recent transfer, I was getting ~100KB/s.

I use ACI as well... 9 Mbps screams at off-opeak hours, but peak hours are nothing compared to Rogers peak hours.

100-150 kbs upload is just fine... you don't want much more than that, as you don't want to slow anything on your PC much more anyways which bittorent is running minimized.

Costs me almost $60 inc. tax every month, so there is a price to pay. It's cheaper if you are a cable tv subscriber.
