but don't you find that the atmosphere sucks with the lesser known djs. For me clubbing is a good 80% about atmosphere, which is why i still like seeing big named djs.

Not too mention i can not deal with those 45 minute break downs anymore.

lol nachos hyped the shit out of sander but he didnt do it for me on NYE. Danny Howells was ACE last weekend though!

I think you guys are clearly overestimating the dutch audience. I would say that they are the one which are most positive to his cheesy style.
they like big arenas and then it doesnt matter if the dj is DJ Jean or Tiesto or if he can beatmatch or not. as long as they play some cheesy anthems.

yeah i agree. but then again, his music is targeted to an audience that is different than progressive dj's. once again as a rule, i'd say the majority of trance fans, and in this case tiesto fans, are younger in terms of EDM experience. like you said, the netherland crowd isn't going to take some shit set...because they've been around the block and know what's up. but i think that tiesto has choosen the road he has by producing and playing the type of music that he does. not everyone can name all the songs that tiesto plays like the hardcore tracklisters here and on tiesto.com...most have a very vague idea of EDM and their appreciation of it, so of course they only want to here love comes again...that's all they know.

progressive dj's on the other hand, have always played sets which i think appeal more to people that appreciate EDM and have for some time. unless you can appreciate them people think they are boring and monotonous. i think that's even evident in the members of TA for the most part. because of that, i think it gives them that freedom you are talking about to play more tunes...because like the netherland tiesto fans, they know what's up and don't want the same thing all the time.

Yeah thats why he can never go back... the demographic he has adjusted his playlist to will never be accepting of musical change to a deeper significantly more progressive/darker sound.

The latest idea to combat this is the 2-up weekender... where he'll play a shit concert one night to the teenagers... then the experienced EDM crowd (who were quite happily away from proceedings in the VIP the night before) get their own 200 capacity VIP extended hours set in some cosy location the next day.

We can all look back and imagine it differently or criticise what he has(n't) done.. but what about the future?

The recent change of address to LA to work on the new artist album is like another nail in the freaking coffin for me. I mean, i thought he'd stopped copying Oakey back in 2002!

If that comparison is to be completely drawn... its only a matter of time before Tiesto is a 10-gigs-per-annum wonder at Ibiza & the festivals with a couple of weekend's away touring....

Hopefully at that point the sets won't have gone completely to waste like Oakenfolds.

lol theres a pvd craze now? u just hear about him recently? He's had a craze following for more than a couple months.

and there's more tiesto sucks threads, because tiesto actually does suck, pvd doesn't, though he has been a lot better than currently. Tiesto is not a good dj in anyway any more, yet he still believes hes the shit, when he hasn't been since like 2001. At least pvd uses his popularity to promote things like politics, freedom, the music, etc. unlike tiesto who just rides his popularity, continuing to promote himself further as the worlds best dj instead of paying any sort of attention to the things that got him there in the first place. I love his old stuff,sets...but he's a joke.

Tiesto is just a big marketing campaign, a brand name even. He hasn't been a real/good dj for a long long time.

Hehehe I can never make the complete switch like you did. Its taken 3 extra years to get the hell off the shittest forum on the planet.

You know my commitments man.. and it would be a damn shame to leave them

Following up on this and your point about his move to LA, we saw him at Danny Howells night hanging in VIP...I wonder how many tracks he wrote down that Danny blew the place up with...lolol

Everyone was pointing and looking at him, it was weird, like seeing a car crash or something...or a train wreck?

they've both been doing it more and more lately...i think eventually they are going to make the switch to be honest...they see how it's taken off...and i'm sure they want apart of it. it's things like that which make me really say pfffffft to armin and tiesto...they are almost like bandwagon dj's...they just play music to promote themselves or because it's popular...

Yeah i was freaking gutted when he dropped Pryda...

What about :-
Elio Riso & Raffunk - To Be Or Not To Be
Klement Bonelli - Ethna
or
Empty Streets (Seamus Haji & Emmanuel Remix)

were those heavy rotated before Tijs picked them up.
I know he found them via a few CDR's he bought out on the white isle.

In a recent poll he has listed Eric Prydz as his favourite artist from 2005... I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

hmmm

Tiesto only played Sensation once.

Since then Armin has been to blame for that crock of shit.

The audience might be more accepting to big anthems, but they are also tired of hearing both these and the 'In Concert' themes. (At least the people i hanged out with were!)

Another problem is that these guys are so popular on home soil... they have to fill a stadium, cos quite frankly a 1000-capacity club just isnt big enough anymore.
