Well, I wish I could say I was around then... but from when I saw the movie, I think there are a lot of parties like that nowadays in NY... Crazy shit happens to me every weekend...
and BTW, Tini Tun was freakin amazing, great opener and when I got to see him headlining, couldn't stop shaking my ass |
It is not about crazy shit. It's about the vibe. It's almost as if Twilo had a Spirit (no pun intended) and Soul. You felt home when you came there. Whether it was your first time or 100th time - it was home. Crazy, sweaty, whithering, slithering, sexy, wacked out home.
Clubbing elsewhere nowdays feels... sterile. almost like a parody of itself. People either jump and try to get noticed or stand around like at rock concert. maybe 10% are dancing. Crap, I remember circles of dancing at Twilo - where you'd get all kinds of weird break dancing or super cool popin' or amazing glow stick show. Sure, there's some now but there it was almost like a competition - you'd see people go for sometimes hours in and out of the circle. Trully an amazing thing to witness.
I miss it.

And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. |
