imo as long as your request fits what he/she is playing atm, then simply asking the dj or slipping him/her a note isn't a bad thing. Doesn't work if you're seein' somebody as big as Tijs or Ferry though.

Umm, for the most part, no. Most DJs will go and dig through their record box and will play a track that will fit the moment for that particular evening. Only Oakey is guilty of this.

I have gotten Ferry to play the tracks I requested several times
I got Ferry to play Avan- All I want to do in Sf by slippin him a note

well what i'm sayin' is that it's freakin' hard in some clubs to get close to them because they're either in a crow's nest booth or in front of a sea of people.
