HF is way too big for me. almost *too* active i'd say, threads disappear down the page in the main forum at an alarmingly fast rate, and the fact it's mostly all centered around london means most people know eachother personally... so it's pretty intimidating. people only seem to interact with those they already know.
from what i can see... UKTA is a community that has lived its life. people joined, got to know eachother & met outside the board... it became one big clique & no-one cared about expanding it. that & with the irc room in place, it kinda rules out the need for posting chat/banter threads in here
and on ian's point about new people interacting... the fact that alot of the clique have moved on from trance/clubbing & the likes means there isn't much common ground for new people to connect with. or at least this is how it looks from where i'm standing... as someone who joined after the clique was established & didn't really start posting until after things died down
i've lurked around in #ukta twice just to see what goes on (one time i got banned by montana, without even saying/doing anything ) but know from past experience that merging into already established channels is pretty awkward unless you know someone in there personally

I will have to pop in when I'm at work and trade insults - It's a lot better to get paid to piss around on the internet.

now that i live in the UK...i rarely even pop in the ukta forums.

Its not that big really hun, most of the threads are complete tosh anyway so its pretty easy to keep up with anything youre interested in! And you have the likes of me on there - what more could you wish for eh!?

haha i've posted a thoughtful comments in some of the threads but people never reply to them, just see my name in the 'last poster' column get progressively further & further down the page
i mean the main music forum on here is pretty busy but i can post a load of stuff, go to bed overnight, check the next morning and see all the threads i replied to, with new comments i can click straight onto. if i do that with HF then the whole page will look completely different the next day ;/
