tu_face, most of what you posted flies by me except the following:
1) heroin and other opiates that fund terrorists. the other opiates you mentioned were vicotin which i took to mean vicodin and oxycotin which i took to mean oxycontin. i can see where heroin may fund terrorists or rather organized crime, but vicodin and oxycontin are prescription medications here in the US and i believe elsewhere so i do not see where these drugs would lead to funding of terrorist/organized crime activity rather than illegal products. just curious where i could read more about the subject. if the drugs indeed are vicotin and oxycotin then i must admit i have not heard of these and they very well may play the role you suggest.
2) no harmful effects of marijuana. here i would have to disagree. i have friends that smoked a lot of mj as well as a lot of tobacco and they both resulted in various forms of cancer. granted the argument could be made that it was solely the tobacco or more the tobacco but it is something to consider and not to be taken lightly. a definite direct effect of mj use is schizophrenia or other psychoses. and i know this because i saw this with a couple of adult psychiatric inpatients when i was doing my psychiatric rounds as a student and on my residency. there were five patients that i can recall that were admitted for schizophernia secondary to mj use. when the patients had periods in their life without mj use they had no evidence of psychoses. so i figure i would edumacate the rest of the TAs on that point. i don't care if you make claims for your drug of choice. just make sure you know all the details. this is a generalized statement by the way and should not be construed as a personal attack.
as for me i no longer use any substances. not for any particular reason except for the fact that i don't care to. i used to drink, smoke, use mj, shrooms, ghb, xtc, you name it and i've probably done it except for heroin. none of that stuff ever really had a hold on me, thank God. i too have seen friends struggle with addiction and it is very saddening when i realize that there is nothing that i can do to help them. it's kinda interesting when you think about a clockwork orange (if you've read the version with the complete 21 chapters) and it's like you're really self-destructive when you're young but as you age you don't have those tendencies anymore. maybe that's what happened to me. who knows and i'm sure you're all wondering who cares. just thinking out loud...on a keyboard. cheers!

I agree with tu_face vivid boy, "Special K" is a horse tranquiliser... I have done extensive research on all types of drugs... If you give "K" to a small mammal its gonna have the best trip in its life, and its gonna slip away without knowing about it...
Its good to see that most of the people who posted had something against drugs, because you should know by now that drugs ARE bad for you no mater how good they make you feel.
I personally have tried most of the drugs out there, including coke and heroin, and am a regular user of E, weed and hash, but believe me (for the regular users out there) the best one is weed. Its not physically addictive but psychologically it is, so in a way you can control it, and side effects are minimum.
Something to think about next time your popping an E or sniffing coke, keep in mind that ALL those drugs HAVE to be made in a laboratory using chemicals. I, being an organic chemist, can safely say that most of the drugs synthesized have a LOT of impurities and most of the impurities have a very very negative effect on your body, they may even kill you if the "chemist" mixed the wrong substances...
Don't drink and drive, smoke and flyyyyyyyyy.
Be safe.
