from a professional point of view

i've tried all the current "top" cd decks, the pios, numarks, denons and even that piece of garbage the technics (there, i said it, they are shit, sorry, don't mean to offend anyone)

out of all the cd players i've used, top or not, out of the probably hundreds of decks, the pioneers are built for djs and get my pick hands down

you can buy into the flashy stuff the other brands offer, but in my years as a working dj, i've never had gear stand up to the absolute touture of club life like pioneer stuff

i've seen our current djm-600 dropped about 4 times, it's had liquid on it, hundreds of djs playing on it and abusing it to no end (knobs have gone missing for days to be found on the dancefloor after close one night) and it's taken the abuse like a trooper, quite literally this thing has seen over a thousand shows

the cdjs have the best feel i've felt, going from vinyl to cd was a breeze with the platter on the cdjs

that's why all the world's top djs swear by the pioneer products

it's because they work

one of my djs has a denon deck, i've used it extensivly, don't like it as much as the cdj-1000, never even touch that spinning platter, use the pitch bend buttons instead

it really helped me make my decision on buying my cd decks.

althought i have the problem where i could wait and save for mk3 (which i dont want mp3 support) so i really dont want it!

i know where to find new mk2's but its a question am i going to be quick enough! got about 2 weeks before i have the money!

or do i go for the 800mk2, and i can get them $300 cheaper each from ebay from a good seller $600 saving .

mk2 = $1500 aud
800mk2 = $1100 aud
mk3 = 1650 aud

is there going to be a significant difference between mk2 and the 800mk2, if not i will buy the 800mk2 as i will save a heap of money.
im not new to djing so i would like to be able to be creative on the cdj's.

cheers. yeah im not to keen on a turning platter was looking at them new denon dn-s3500, i gotta love the jog wheel on the pioneers as i have used the 800's before.

I bought them for $850 CAD each... So kinda pricey but nowhere near as expensive as cdj1000...

any of the cdj series will do you good, even the first models

the mk2 version of both the 800 and 100 are obviously better and worth the little extra for the couple extra features

it doesn't matter really which model and version you buy, you won't be disappointed in purchasing a pioneer cdj 800 or 1000

Would I be just as happy with a CDJ 200, though? I mix uplifting and anthemic trance at the moment, but I'm leaning towards the progressive trance and progressive house side of things. Tiesto bashing aside, I really dig the sound of ISOS 5 CD1, and I could see myself mixing more of this kind of music.

Would a 200 model serve me just as well? I'm only a bedroom DJ, and I do it because I have a passion for the music. I'll never play out, so high dollar machinery isn't necessarily what I need. However, I do want quality. Thanks for your insight, Tony.

its nice to know other people are in the same decision as me! 800mk2 or 3500. im torn between simplicity and the widely used cdj or a unique feature packed one thats techincally better and is moreof a competitor to the cdj1000mk3.

in theroy i should be siding with the things has technically better but i keep getting back to the 800, i like the charm of it. itshorrible being in two minds about stuff.

anyone else been in this situation and then actually made a decision?

Yeah man, I feel ya. After going to guitar center today and trying out some of the models, as well as speaking with the guys at agiprodj.com, I think I'm going with the 800 mk2s along with the DJM-400 mixer. Perfect setup for what I want to do I think. Around 1750 with good headphones.

another one of my djs uses the 200's, love em

similar feel to the 800 and 1000, my second choice in cd hardware

if i already wasn't set on the 1000mk3, i'd be getting the 200's

Good decision! Sounds like a sweet setup you'll have, what headphones are you thinking about buying?? I'm trying to get new ones, mine suck (Senheiser HD 212). I personally don't think the spinning platter on the DNS-3500 is nearly as good as the non-spinning vinyl emulation platter on the 800 and 1000. Just feels better. One thing to remember is that CDJs are not turntables, so I don't know why some of these guys like Denon are so obsessed with the spinning platter, other than it might be better for people who scratch, but I don't think it's neccessary for people who just mix mostly...

Yeah sometimes I regret getting the CDJ 1000 MK2s and not just saving money and getting the 200s, but I had the $$ saved up..so I wanted the best. But I don't use half the features of the CDJ 1000s, but I think the DNS-3500 has TOO many features, even more so then the Pioneers.
