If you don't feel safe then don't go??!?!? Come on man.. Why do we have to take things sitting down all the time?? Why not do something about it and see if you can change things.. Maybe nothing will really change in the end, but at least you can say hell i tried.. And, you never know maybe something will change, maybe the guv will wake up and see that not all there customers are crackheads that get so drunk or high, they couldn't care less if there was room in there.. I party and club sober, I love the music and i love to dance, and to dance and enjoy the music, i need at least enough room so that i can stand without getting knocked around every 2 mins, the guv ownership has to realize that they do have to respect there customers, like was said in an earlier post, WE DO pay there bills, and if we get enough people to speak out, they will have to listen... .. ..

You sound bitter..........almost angry........post your displeasure on the guvernment's website and i'm sure charles K-promoter will listen to you if enuf ppl complain.

I was at Ferry Corsten, he was absolutely great, but I have to agree with most, the space in the Guv really killed my buzz. I stood on the stage half the night cuz surprisingly, I found there was more room (for me) up there. I was glad that a lot of people showed up but being shoved and feeling other people's sweat flick onto me caused me to turn my attention away from Corsten which really ticked me off. I think that events like Corsten, AVB, PVD, etc., should be in Kool Haus cuz it is roomier - at Tiesto, I had tons of room to dance. I don't think those events should be held during the week as suggested by Fantom cuz there are people like me who are in school and partying during the week just doesn't work. T.O needs a super club for that "super club experience". I hope that the new year will see a bigger club for these big events and I hope that it happens soon. I'm going to see AVB no matter the size of the crowd. If anyone tries to trample me ----- I'll just have to bite their ankles!

Grrr...the eternal problems that clubbers face :

1. Too many people
2. Lame Courtchecks
3. Too many mashed up Asians
4. Too many sweaty guido's and guiduttes

Fact is, none of these things apart from the lame courtcheck problems will ever be solved simply cause the clubs want the big bucks. I agree with most people that went to Ferry that it was way too packed and there were too many people there who just wanted to get fucked up and didn't care who the hell was on the decks...the only solution i can see to that problem is that Guv should hold special events on days like Wednesday instead of Friday or Saturday. At least that way only the 'real' fans will come. I don't think they'll do that either cause they want the max number of people, so i guess we (TA's) have to bite the bullet and make sure we have our shoulder pads and gear ready for future...

the crowds here dont suffer from the gino problem, the tripped out asian problem..and I love it

u only see fucked up asians @ raves for little kiddies

BUT DONT TRY THE WEDNESDAY THING! its our thing, and its probly the only way we get DJS is that they are in TO on friday, so might as well go to calgary

I have an idea. How about taking our complaints to Benson and Hedges? After all, I'm sure they're trying to portray an image by sponsoring all these events, being the "heroes" that bring us all the good talent. If the Guv management doesn't take us seriously, we could take it straight to the sponsors and the fear of the various bad practices at the Guv (i.e. rude, unsafe, etc.) being associated with them and their product might get them to put the pressure on the club. What do ya think? We could even tell Benson and Hedges that we are considering getting in touch with the fire marshall to get them extra worried, unless of course they are the ones doing the paying off, Tatgirl.

Oh, BTW, although I agree that the stereotype of "older, fucked-up Asian" crowd at the Guv is often accurate, let's not get carried away with this. I've seen fucked-up people of various races and ages at other clubs as well as at the Guv....

Yeah... but there's a bunch of them and they're regulars, the same damn crowd. They're there every friggin' week. (they're most definately there to watch over the drug traffic)

As much as you hate to see these 40 yr old fucked-up asians there, it's 10 times worst for us asian TA's to see them there.

I find it now that I have a much better time when I'm there to just enjoy the music and not worry too much about the crowd. I can't comment for the Ferry Corsten crowd that night but overall the Guv crowd isn't too bad. I've been to enough hip hop clubs and seen too many fights break out just because you bump into someone accidentlly or look at someone the wrong way...ridiculous!

_________

Hahahaha! I highly doubt the overcrowding at the Guv only began when corporate sponsors came in.... Let's just wait and see what the Guv does with our letters. Let's give them a chance at least.
So, how is our letter campaign coming along so far?

Think that you should have put #4 in BIG BLOCK LETTERS!!!! I totally agree with you on that point. However, don't agree with special events on Wednesday cuz it causes problems for some of the 'real fans' who go to school.

Exactly, there's no way that I'd miss school, especially since I'm in my OAC year right now, and a lot is riding on this semester...stick to Saturdays@Kool Haus

People lets be realistic, emailing the the staff at the guvernment will not only waste your time but your suggestions/critism will not be considered and your emails will probally be instantly deleted.
Im sure they received hundreds of emails regarding this problem.
Even though we are or have been regualar patrons of the guverment complex, voicing our discontentment to the owner/staff will go unnoticed. Its like they are a small business where residual clientele
is the only way to keep the business running. If your not happy with the operations of the business you go somewhere else. But the Guvernment somewhat has a monopoly because they are the only "superclub" in the GTA that can afford to book the international artists we all love. Knowing that chances are likely that we will somehow end up returning there and spending our hard earned dollars even after the bad experiences. (unless you truly have a strong will)
The only way to make a difference is to contact the "higher power"
Regardless of how much money the Guverment has and how much influence they have over authorities within Toronto, they cant fuck around with the provincial amd federal goverment. So heres where you can take the initiative

http://www.gov.on.ca/OFM/regional.htm

Unfortunately we cant email them. (I cant find an address anyway)
Just give the OFM a call. The phone call will probally be quicker and much more effective then typing out your rants on this or any other message board. I will be making my call right after I finish this post.

lets not get harsh and try to get the place closed down because that will be a lost for everyone. Im sure a fine and a warning from the OFM will wipe away the smiles of their faces and the dollar signs in their eyes.
As partiers we hold nothing but together if we express our concerns
we can enter an establishment that is safe. Its not like we are asking for alot, just our 3 feet of space to feel comfortable. Some of you will say if you handle it then dont go. Sure but that still doesnt change the fact that they are BREAKING THE LAW!!! We may be informed of what to expect from that venue but there are people that are not.
Not once have I ever entered that estabishment and hear the security tell me the place is over capacity. We only find out after we have paid to get in. Now why should we ever be put in that type of situation. If any venue has reached it capacity they have to tell people and turn them away. That way the only person to get mad at is yourselves for not going ealier. That is something I can understand and deal with. I can't deal with be treated like a cash cow being herded in the slaughter house. A bit harsh but thats how I feel.
