it comes down to professionalism

take the time to learn the ins and outs of everything that encompasses a dj, know how your gear works and how to troubleshoot a system, learn how to properly record, burn and distribute your mixes, know your local record store and all the staff that work there (you get better treatment that way) and know all the best sites to buy your style online

there's tonnes more, but i don't have time to write tham all, i'm still learning and i've been learning now since 1999 and will continue to learn until the day i die
