hhmmm, how can you link illegal mp3 sharing with the decline in vinyl sales? I would think it got served a deathly blow with the development of more sophisticated cd decks. But I don't see that as related to illegal mp3 sharing.

if a piece of software is sold new or second hand then the protection key that is required to run it should be supplied with it. if it isnt then it is blatantly stealing. if you were stupid enough to pay for a faulty item then contact ebay and use your buyer protection fund thing they offer. and report the seller.

the fact is that you now have a copy of cubase that steinberg have not received money for, but the c**t that sold you the copy has profited. so you should seek your money back from the seller and pay full price for the legit copy. simple as that.

copyright theifs are the reason software is so expensive. they have to make up for the loss of earnings so drop it on the honest people.

Not sure if anyone replied with this, but yes there is a dongle crack.

I used one from a friend whilst I was deciding if I was going to buy it.
In the end I bought it fair and square.

An interesting point though is, who is worse, those that offer the cracks or those that buy them.
You could argue that they give someone who might not otherwise be able to afford it, the chance to be creative and that the real crime is that crackers are making money out of someone elses creation in terms of software.

If it really is a question of money then there are other cheaper options that are equal to or better on certain points. All sequencers have their pros and cons.

Cubase is definately good, but so is FL, Reason and Sonar. Reason excluded they all really depend on what you use with them rather than the app itself and ulitmately on you.

Just out of interest, how much did you pay on e-bay?

Cheers
Nem
