FAA wasn't ever that good of a production

For the first time in a long time i completely agree with you on this. In a lot of ways PVD is a hypocrite both producing wise and in his sets. Always goes on about how he "doesnt play trance and only EDM" and so on and so forth. Slates all trance for being cheesy when his own production work is abolutly shocking. Without fail the best parts of his sets is when hes battering out Vandit style trance and is what got him back to the most popular DJ on the planet (according to DJ Mag).

As for the track i thought it was okay. Im guessing the "club" mixes will make it sound a lot better.

I've been a staunch supporter of PVD for along time, his music was a real inspiration (particulary, out there and back). However over time my support has been shrinking as track after track he does really disappoints! He used to use vocals to add to a track, but never to be the basis of the track.

I also used to be a great supporter of tiesto as well but I lost interest in his music some time ago, I actually find a lot of tracks now days sleep inducing. I've heard better use of synths in pacman games.

Anyway back to PVD, I really feel like he's lost his way, his tracks have become very vocally based and cheesy. And yes I think it's fair to say some of paul's comments have been hypocritcal. Oh and since we're talking hypocritical, some comments Tiesto made about dj's making no interaction with the crowd, he's just as bad if not worse. You could put a dead guy behind the decks and he would move more than tiesto does. These day's, Tiesto is overrated, highly, it's all hype.

It's interesting that someone brings up the point of vandit tracks because there are some great tracks coming out on that label. I would say Paul decides on what gets put out on vandit, so you would think if those are the sounds he likes you would see influences in his productions. I don't see a large amount of vocal tracks on Vandit, so whats influencing PVD to write these vocally based mainstream styled tracks?

wow.

PvDs productions have taken a down spill imo. I just dont get any goosebumps when listening to pvds newer productions.

MY answer to the problem. Quit for a couple years. Take a break, and then come back. We will all still love Paul, even if he takes a break. Chill with the family, relax, take a break, instead of traveling around the world to your crazy fanboys in angelwing outfits.

Gives time to really create somethin great.

slates all trance?

I won't deny most of hs recent stuff is pretty average, but he never slated all trance.

He did agree that 95% of trance is bullocks, but then he's right.
Just like 95% of rock is bullocks, 95% of house, 95% of pop (okay, more like 99%), 95% of folk, 95% of country etc.

This may actually be referring to somebody else's post in this thread, but in case this is referring to my question, I should clarify something...

I was not trying to compare PVD and Tiesto's productions...I think their productions are both very different. When I asked "is PVD going the way of Tiesto?", what I meant was is he becoming a mediocre producer after finally hitting the #1 spot...

I didn't mean to sound like I was comparing their productions

As far as productions go, PVD > Tiesto

Paul van dyk did play elements of until monday over FAA. Why is it so hard to concept?

And this thread is retarded cause the track was just put together by paul and im sure this mix will probably never be heard ever again. And wont be released till mid summer if at all as a single.

Ok, I´ve listened to it again and apparently he did NOT play any elements of Until Monday over For An Angel. The reason why you think he did is that it was a Marc van Linden remix of FAA and Marc van Linden coproduced Until Monday with Giuseppe Ottaviani.

The last production Paul van Dyk did that had real substance and i really enjoyed was probably 'Autumn' which didnt see the light of day as regards a release was concerned, oh and that track called 'Working' or 'Avid City' whatever it was called, which i couldnt believe was discarded on his weak 'Reflections' album, that track was pure PvD energy with a great Acid line.
'Wir Sind Wir' wasnt bad if it wasnt for those horrible vocals.

I havnt heard this offering yet, but i really think he should scrap the vocals and just opt for the solid instrumentals which he is just so good at......Words, Avenue, Out There & Back etc.....

+1
tiestos latest productions(not rmx's) all sound the same, a lot of them sound like flight 643, same build up and everything...the synths he uses sound really lame as well.

um, and pvd, his shit is wack as well, his productions havent been up to par latley.

i don't hate eiether, i like em both, but production wise, there are way better producers out there droppin' hot trax...
