Let's get one thing straight here. This is the GOVERNMENT data mining we're talking about here. They don't use google search. Looking beyond the fact that they already have all your school, credit, and all kinds of other info, their data mining methods are far more advanced that doing Google searches, ffs. So your futile attemps at keeping your info private by not caching pages or whatever doesn't help shit.

Personally, I've got nothing to hide - they can mine my info all they want. And if you do have something to hide, well I hope they find out who took your mother's virginity.

It's done more for the sake of there not being posts/threads lingering around long after they've been deleted. Example: That girl that went to Boa or CZ a while back and was reported missing and then was found - her name was all over different websites - but - while there was a match for her on TA it was easy to remove the thread with no worry of a cached google version to float around (for the casual web search/job interviewer to find).

And yes, you're correct about the advanced data mining techniques that are used and about the web search engines (accessible to us) being trivial in comparison, however the mining is applied upon massive datasets looking for irregular patterns - but if they were seeking info on a short list of individuals then no method would be ruled out (including the conventional web search) - so - not caching pages helps to an extent.
