u can play mp3s with the cdj-200. i prefer the looks and precision of them, but i like the substantialness of the 800s and the whole gettin used to the jog wheel and being able to cater or DJs that like cdj and vinyl mode etc...

i dont think so. i currently use numarks and goin from them to cdj-800 at a gig the other week was no trouble. the only thing thats different on the pioneers is the cue. but all the cues on pioneers are the same so i dont c ud need 800s unless u wanted to scratch?

In all honesty, after finally owning the 800s, the difference in pitch accuracy means almost nothing. In other words, don't let it sway you. My 0.05 (pun intended )

u say that but its not im payin more for a more accurate pitch, im payin less. my arguement that im havin with myself is is it reli worth spendin the extra cash on sum 800s where the only feature i gain is vinyl mode that i dont even use and i lose effects and the mre accurate pitch. like i said before the fact 800s are nice and substantial makes me want them but i think thats all it is, other than that i think im just being greedy.

Well listen, you can't go wrong with either...I went for the 800s because they ARE more substantial and closer to the full out top of the line 1000s. Plus, I don't look at the vinyl mode and scratching as something I'm not interested in, but rather, something I COULD be interested in later. For me, I know I'm not gonna upgrade in the next 5 years at least, so I wanted something that has a degree of "expandability" and "experimentation" to it. And again, the 0.05 vs. 0.02 should really not be much of a factor at all. On principle, yea it sucks and shouldnt be that way, but overall the 800s are a better buy if you're looking for something a little more advanced.

I had this debate myself, so in order for me not to want to upgrade (or downgrade) in the future just for the 0.02 pitch, which is stupid but it's my money. So I decided last summer to just get the CDJ 1000 MK2s, that way I would never have to worry about upgrading in the future, even to an MK3 (which besides a few features isn't all that different).

The CDJ 800 seems to work out fine and after browsing the Bedroom Pics thread, I've noticed more people own the CDJ 800 MK1 or MK2s than the CDJ 1000s. The close second is appearing to be the CDJ 200, so overall it seems like people just like to save money and in actuality don't need something so top of the line as the CDJ 1000 in their bedrooms. But someone like me, who had the money (from saving it up over time) and wasn't planning to buy anything else like TTs (got rid of them) the CDJ 1000 is great! Haha though there is the "I could have saved $1,000 if I got the CDJ 800s...or more for the 200s" but I said..why settle for less?? But Miami and the other guys are right, all you need really is an 800 for a bedroom....the 1000 is a bit overkill (though again i'm a hypacrite, I have the 1000....)

you can't have looked too hard for that price. Wholesale is only $10 or so more than the mk1's, and those could be bought from JB hifi for $900 or so. Sure the mk2's might be a bit more expensive, but 1400 was what the 1000mk2's were selling for.
