And If you hear someone Korean saying "ni-gga" .. which may be pronounced as "neekuh" .. it means "yours" in korean.

Jane - I'm so jealous you went to the PI! I've wanted to visit my family and check out the scene there. What was the age range when you went clubbing? I've heard they start young... like 13ish but still go out in their 50's. Didn't know about the she-males though But yeah, one of the best things about the PI is most ppl speak English since they learn it in high school, and of course the exchange rate is a plus!

Kris - Are you Filipino? I wasn't sure. I am sure to go back again in a couple of years. The age range varied just like it would be at an EDM party here, but I'd say it was mostly an older crowd, say 25 - 40.

I also noticed that in Boracay (a huge vacationing spot in the Philippines), there were MANY KOREANS THERE. Handful of businesses catering to Koreans. Noraebangs (karaokes), restaurants, hotels .. all written in Korean. Apparently, many Koreans fly down there for vacationing/honeymooning.

In regard to she-males .. ahaha .. fun to look at! bbut I hear many men get fooled into it .. because some of them look so good!

I'm half Flip =) The other half is Taiwanese, but I didn't really pick up much that culture aside from bubble tea. Most of my friends in college were Filipino. They just seemed more fun and friendly than the other ethnicities at school, which were very cliquey. I really want to do a tour of Asia in the next couple years. Maybe we can go together! I'd love to take a couple months to travel before grad school, if I ever make it to grad school haha

rofl.. so funny.

u guys talkin bout nah-gu. oh by the way, nah-gu, could also mean "that" referring to a specific thing.

anyways... nothing to be afraid of in china..., i guess the non-english thing is a definitely a big factor though. i can still sorta get by with my broken mandarin... haha. the only thing about china is that media and news is still somewhat censored there and u definitely have to watch what you say about the government. other than that... it feels pretty much normal.

as for taiwan... if and of u guys are ever thinking bout goin there... damn, it'll lead for some good times... and good food. i saw sasha there for new years 2003, definitely one of my best parties i've ever been to.. they know whats up with the friggin lights and lasers... haha.

Chris, I agree with you. Everyone in the Philippines were super nice and very friendly. Even my Flip friends here!

I LOVE to travel. And I would definitely consider countryhopping in Asia w/ you! Ahaha. I've even considered taking a couple months of too.. ahaha.

Here are some sites to look at for some cheap travel:
1. Malaysia Airlines http://us.malaysiaairlines.com/
2. Air Asia http://www.airasia.com/site/en/home.jsp
3. Jet Star Asia http://jetstarasia.com/index.php

I know someone that recently booked via the above .. she booked flights to six countries for $1200! Cheaper than the base $1399 for the All Asia Pass BEFORE taxes (below):

1.http://us.malaysiaairlines.com/mys/...otions/aap.html
2.http://www.cathay-usa.com/offers/aap/offer.asp

Maybe in a couple of years!

Wow, thanks for the info! My dad actually has an apt in Shanghai, so we'd have a place to stay there. My stepsis is in HK, and the other side of my family is scattered throughout the PI. Sadly, I haven't been to the PI in 17 years! My mom's not keen on going back supposedly for "safety" reasons.

lol any of my friends that go hate coming back... but I think that's the nature of people who enjoy travel. When I was backpacking in Europe, I seriously contemplated cashing in my return ticket and being a vagabond taking waitressing jobs to support my travels.

EDIT: Also, obviously I have family in Taiwan too =) I'm an Asian mutt!

btw - nice briefly meeting you at sasha!

Oh that was YOU!? Cool. It was nice meeting you as well. You asked if I had a favorite DJ and I defaulted to Armin but after giving it some thought I'd have to agree with you. I have no favorite. Lots of DJ's and producers are good at spinning and producing in their own ways. ESPECIALLY after Sasha's set (my first Sasha set) I definately couldn't compare someone like him or Satoshi to Armin. The great DJ's are all good in their own right at what they do. Speaking of which, I'm anticipating Armin and the rest of the summers upcoming events . See you there on the 8th yes?

Cool. I'll keep you and a few other ppl in mind if I ever plan on going there LOL. I hear it's not all that expensive. Before it was totally off my list ... a place I'd only wish to go, but now I'll look up flight prices and whatnot.

i went to the philippines back in october because my brother was getting married there (he married a girl from the philippines). I didn't get to go clubbing there unfortunately but when I'd ask people and tell them the kind of music i'm into they all told me to go to Embassy

My favorite area of Manila was Makati, I felt less like a tourist there because a lot of the places we'd go people would litterally stare at me and point, which got pretty depressing after a while. I'm not retarded or anything, just obviously not Filipino

My favorite part of the trip overall was when I got to visit Boracay Island! ahhh anyone who goes to the philippines and loves the beach MUST go to Boracay. I remember being at a bar there one night and hearing some tracks from Markus Schulz, Armin and tiesto haha. that made it all ok

furthermore, I don't think i'd go back there... Simply because I didn't feel comfortable there, I was there for 4 weeks and I just got really depressed. I'm glad I got the experience but a bunch of personal factors made the trip kinda suck for me
