evidence of said "bunk"?
what's ridiculous is that you constantly present your OPINIONS as fact.
you'll note that nowhere do I claim that the CPC actually did anything wrong...I posted an article...and am hypothesizing about the interpretation being put forth by the opposition.
you, on the other hand, seem to have some miraculous insight into the entire matter, even moreso than Elections Canada officials who feel that an investigation is warranted...
But YOU know it's a ruse...and YOU are more qualified to interpret the Elections Act? YOU are in a position to categorically state that there's no way these monies could be labelled as donations?
ok then |
You went out of your way to create a thread containing (false) accusations against the CPC. The burden is on you to show that they're true. Here I'll help; here are links to the Canada Elections Act and the Income Tax Act respectively:
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/E-2.01/
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/I-3.3/
I challenge you to find the so-called violation.

Here's a REAL scandal:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/serv...y/National/home
| quote: | A key figure in the sponsorship scandal blamed financial demands he was getting from organizers for the Liberal Party of Canada as a reason why he eventually defrauded the federal government in contracts worth $1.6-million.
Ad executive Jean Brault had pleaded guilty last month to five counts of fraud relating to government contracts awarded to his now defunct agency, Groupaction Marketing Inc.
Testifying at his pre-sentencing hearing Monday, he linked his admitted fraud to the demands for secret political donations he was getting from a handful of top organizers in the Quebec wing of the Liberal Party of Canada. |
So here we have John Brault, under oath, testifying that the Liberal Party solicited donations in exchange for Government of Canada contracts.
Here's the relevant section of the Elections Canada Act:
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/e-2.01/237702.html
| quote: | 405.21 (1) No person or entity shall solicit or accept a contribution on behalf of a registered party, registered association or candidate if the person or entity made a representation to the contributor or potential contributor that part or all of the contribution would be transferred to a person or entity, other than the registered party or a candidate, leadership contestant or electoral district association.
(2) No person or entity shall collude with a person or entity for the purpose of circumventing the prohibition in subsection (1). |
Here's the punishment:
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/e-2.01/237960.html
(via 497 f.162, 163: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/e-2.01/237918.html)
| quote: | (2) If a registered party, its chief agent or registered agent or one of its officers has been convicted of an offence referred to in subsection (3), the court may, having regard to the nature of the offence and the circumstances surrounding its commission, and in addition to any other punishment that may be imposed under this Act, by order,
(a) direct the Chief Electoral Officer to deregister the party;
(b) if it directs deregistration under paragraph (a), direct the chief agent — or another person specified by the court — to liquidate the party's assets; and
(c) if it directs liquidation under paragraph (b), direct the financial agent of each registered association — or another person specified by the court — to liquidate the registered association's assets. |
So the Liberal Party should be deregistered and its assets liquidated based on the Elections Canada Act.
Not only that, but the Liberal Party still has not returned tens of millions of dollars to the Canadian people from AdScam.
