Here are some good songs to start a set with:

1. Jon the Dentist vs. Ollie Jaye - Imagination (K90 Remix)

Simply amazing! Starts off with ocean waves that create a carefree, exciting mood. Then a brief melody comes along, creating a build-up. Finally the bass/drum-line kicks in. An excellent intro tune.

2. Ayla - Angelfalls (Elemental Mix)

First there is just a piano-line, showcasing the main melody and setting the dreamy soundscape. Then the bassline with drums kicks in. I like this one less than "Imagination" cause there are way too many stops. Also I don't like it when the drumline consists of only kicks (normally it's kick-and-snare); this one has quite a few kick-only moments.

3. Aria - Dido (Armin van Buuren's Universal Religion Mix)

Already has been mentioned. Starts off with a voice in the background, commenting on a rocket launch. The intro is quite lengthy (over 2 minutes) and prepares you for a fantastic jounrney, building up some synths in the process. Finally, after the intro, an amazing and HARD bass/drum-line comes along.

4. Moni B. - Stripped 2000 (Extended Mix)

A beautiful Euro-Trance intro. Starts off with a female vocal: "come with me, into the trees; we'll lie on the grass and let the years pass." Then a male voice comes along and complements the female one. After the vocal intro, the bassline kicks in.

Unfortunately these are the only GOOD intro tunes I know

PUSH - UNIVERSAL NATION

The first time I heard this track was when I heard Tietso drop this to start his Innercity set... It totally had me form the second it came on. It just captured me, and as the track progressed, I progressed. I had no idea what the hell was happening, where the hell the track was going and how the hell it was going to turn out. And lets just say that Tiesto took me into another world. Made me go with the flow, felt the vibe and and didn't disappoint!

If you never heard it before, like me, then it's definately the "ULTIMATE" track to open a set with.

This may sound wierd, but... I felt like I "was" that track!

possibly, the best opening track

just like delerium - silence (tiesto mix) or d-note - shed my skin (airwave mix).

but, if i wanted to kick off with more hard stuff, i would start with mauro picotto - verdi (megamind mix) or trancesetters - the saga or connector - interference ...

and if it were trance energy, i would start with alibi - eternity (vank mix)

really like afterburn - fratty boy and hooligan - hear me now (grandchillas mix) as an opener.....
great stuff!!!!
and yes.. dj tiesto - magik journey.. the only thing you can say when a dj drops this one is amen, and hold silence for the rest of this track....
it gave me shivers when tiesto spun this track during his set at the palace, groningen. (22 feb 2002)

Ok but what about finishing off a set.

I really loved the way Tiesto finished his set at DJ Tiesto - Live at Sensation - Amsterdam Rai (01-07-00)
with pulser - cloudwalking, followed by The Act - Something About U (DJ Garry mix)

But even more i loved the way pvd finished his set Paul Van Dyk - Live At Rosenmontags Rave (11-02-02)
With Nu Nrg - Dreamland. OMFG. i loved this so much. it was blinding way to finish his set.

So what do u all think?
