yeah? bush won a presidency. 2 of them. what's your point?

i'm not a pessimist, i just choose not to contribute to the idea that money can be made off tragedy... if the movie flops, good. if it's a huge success, expect a pentagon strike spin-off and other rip offs. think about the money these guys probably got selling their story to the studio, by the actors and production team, ad firm/marketing fee, licensing reels to the theaters, domestic and foreign box office sales, royalties that trickle down from rentals, on-demand/pay-per-view, dvd sales and the inevitable cable tv premiere, etc, etc... and for what? just so i can watch the towers collapse in dolby digital while i'm shovelling oily popcorn down my throat? meh...

Has anyone here EVEN SEEN United 93??? If you have, then I think you could realize what talented story telling can do, that movie in NO way exploited the people on that plane. That film did more to honor those people than anything else, and still rates(www.rottentomatos.com) as one of the best reviewed movies this year because of that reason.

Take a Films like Schindlers List,Gahndi,Apollo 13, and Titanic, all based on tragedies in history, but do great jobs of not only telling a story but honoring those people in those stories...could this film be a crapfest like Pear Harbor? maybe, but being that no one here as even seen the movie, please hold your judgement until you have. If this movie can spark emotion, and honor rather than exploit it has succeeded no matter how much money it makes.

point taken.

saw united 93. didn't rush to the theater to see it in a bloodlust fervor. i waited until i was emotionally ready. and i'm glad i did see it, because it was honest, confusing, unflinching, patriotic, emotionally draining, anger-inducing, sorrowful. just like the emotions that we all went through on september 11th, 2001.

as i mentioned before, i have read the script. its an amazing story. and it will be a beautiful memorial

The WTC will be 90% surrounded by lies...to begin with, given the FACT that 9/11 was inside job to capitlize on mideast oil. And dont say "but why would America kill 3000 of its own and ruin a building". American Politicans will kill 300,000 of its own to get hold of Oil, they arent the most moral human beings afterall.

I'm sure you have a world of evidence to back up your claims.

The difference between the films you cite and the 9/11 films is that its still very fresh and the country is still emotionally traumatized. Most of the events in those films took place decades ago (Titanic nearly 100 years ago). 10/15/20 years from now, I think it will be completely viable to make a legitimate film about 9/11, but many wont want to because it wont be as commercially viable then, as it is now.

Somewhere in the recent course of American day-to-day, people have grown accustomed to the live news coverage and invasive journalism that makes any personal event public for all to see in real time with off the cuff color commentary. People have no problem prying into private stories or events as if they have a right to see, hear and know all for their own bemusement. Reality TV replaced traditional "vanilla" sitcoms, and the collective IQ of this nation plunged into the toilet from where said reality TV crawled up out of.

After the dust settled days later, and knowledge of the events started to be pieced together, many of us learned that there were names we would be taking off of our christmass card lists, voices and faces we would never be able to hear or see again. For some of us, it is far too soon to make this a big screen production. Whatever it's intent.

Whoever said that Art isn't done for money is being very, very naive. All artists do it for the money eventually. And the ones that don't just say that because they don't make enough doing their art.

I said it.

Am I being altruistic in my view that Art is not a process for personal gain, and is done without the concept of money? Absolutely. Naive, no. Naive is the belief that no one out there does it for the enjoyment of art and nothing more, and more over it is this acceptance of moneys influence and its consideration that affects art in a negative way. If you want to make "art" and make it profitable, more power to you, go make a blockbuster sequel that the kids can enjoy. Fill it with tons of great CGI, load up an all-star cast, throw in some cheesy soundtrack music.

But if you want to make a movie about the murder of 5 thousand people, an event that ripped through the hearts of countless NYC residents, associated friends and family members world wide, and stunned an otherwise careless nation, that for some feels like it happened just last week, to this very day, GO FUCK YOURSELF!
