It's more house than trance, but trance is still found a lot here. The techno scene also has a good sized following. Breaks and DnB events are less frequent, at least for what I'm aware. We get Armin and PvD usually 3-4 times a year. Ferry Corsten had a monthly residency from Oct '05 - March '06. Tiesto is also around a lot, though I don't go to see him.

seems new york would be ideal. alot of irish there too i think.

If your idea of house is Morillo...well then you're missing 90% of what house has to offer.

Philly was the exception, which you'd have understood if you actually read and processed my comment.

Reading apparently also has a good underground scene.

again ill repeat what i said. morillo is the only house producer i could say i like as he has some trance similarities in his work. i played house and i didnt like it. ill admit im a full on trance man, house doesnt interest me. but you dont see me saying to people who are into house and they say a name like pvd ''wow you really know your trance djs'', why do people have to post stupidity is beyond me. if its not relevant to what is asked, the simple think to do is dont post.

Well, Boston or Chicago will have decent scenes, though Chicago is bigger into House and Boston is bigger into the Indie Rock scene, what with being such a college town and all. Both will draw the occasional big name DJ though, like Ferry or KT.

whoa.. boston has a decent trance scene? where? I've been dying out there..

all ive seen are big names at the avalon..

is there anything more than clubbing there?

I remember one night spontaneously deciding to go clubbing w/ some friends in DC (District of Columbia), and once inside the club I realized it was Sasha spinning!

My friends in England once waited in a line three blocks long to go see Sasha at a club in London.

Trance is big city centric thats for sure, I sometimes travel to Washington DC and Atlanta, I am kinda half way between those 2 cities. Trance comes on the radio where I live, the more dancey styles are on a local station monday-thursday and there is chillout type stuff on sundays. You will find that being part of a specific crowd will lead you towards trance and your other good but radio unfriendly type musics.

We have alot of fun with trance/DnB/House/whatever in north carolina, but mostly in smaller venues. It is a small group of people who like the stuff, not enough people to form different crowds for each genre, so you see the same group of party kids everywhere, and most people will dance to any style of music that gets played, which is something I really like about my home when compared to the bigger cities. There are actually quite a few people who come over here from austin texas to spin too, so I imagine they have a decent scene as well.

Miami, Los Angeles and New York City probably. Detroit has more techno and Chicago has more house, because that is where they originated, or well their own brand of it. Miami, LA and NYC seem to get the big parties and big clubs. There's a few in Detroit, where I'm from (well the suburbs) but not that many. The only one I know that is pretty consistent is Bleu. Wish I could go there (saw Tiesto there once)...but I have parents who freak out if I say I want to go there, because they don't want me to go alone.....even now that I'm 21...can't wait till I get out of the house...or find someone who can go with me. Detroit has one of the biggest festivals in the country, the Movement, but it's mostly techno, house and hip hop. There is some resistance to trance i've encountered in my area, there's just this "detroit techno purity" kind of thing going on. I had a guy at a record/dj shop even try to convince me to buy some detroit techno records. He was basically like "why do you like trance music, it's gay!".

Look heres how it is:

outside of major cities = .0000000001% of the population
inside of major cities = 1% of the population

Nobody likes EDM here...
