Talk about an amazing weekend.
Arrived Saturday afternoon, stopped at cora's for some breakfast. DIdn't even hit the hotel, went right to beachclub. Got there and it was raining abit, but no one seemed to care ( I sure didn't)! The was banging all day, not my favourite but still such an awesome vibe, that I couldn't help but shake my ass. Left around midnight to change and eat. Decided to go out to Circus was awesome, a little hot but awesome tunes and lots of people.
So Sunday... I don't even know where to start. I have never felt a vibe like that anywhere else. Arrived when Lawler got on, and from his first track to his last. He was tearing the beach into pieces. For mr Danny T... words cannot even begin to explain how amazing he was. It sucks he had to shutdown, but we can always hope for extended hours next year!
Beautiful people, amazing music, and a beach. It doesn't get any better than that. Great seeing everyone out, and until next year!

Great venue, Great crowd - other than a few hip hop fans who decided to be complete asses.
Misstress Barbara was better than when I saw her at Stereo - actually didn't suck and had some flow to the set. Calderone was good but had some sound problems at the begining of his set too.
Good th see RJ, Margaret, Sam, and Graham.
Taboo FTW |
you guys really shouldn't let me near a PC that soon after a party (and Taboo FTW indeed )
Hard to say which day was "better"...Day 1 had a serious old-school party vibe going, especially with the last two trance DJs (Phinn & 4 Strings)...I haven't enjoyed trance like that in quite some time...it was crappier weather, but with great tunes, a very cool crowd and lots of room to dance. Day 2 was beautifully sunny, featured Lawler and Teneglia ('nuff said!) and there was eye candy everywhere...what more could you ask for?
Lawler ripped it from the start of his set to the end...Danny T started off rather slow...the first two hours were good, just not spectacular...but then he broke out the vocals and the final three hours were fantastic. I would kill for a tracklisting, but I know it's not going to happen. The tease before midnight, 4.5 hours into his set (to paraphrase):
DannyT: "Does anybody want to go?"
crowd: "NO!!!!!"
DannyT: "Ok...the doors have now opened and I'm going to play for 16 hours".
Sadly, it ended about a half hour later at about 12:15 as there are residences very closeby. 5 hours of Danny T just isn't enough...though being the third day of debauchery, I'm not sure how many more hours my legs had in them anyway. It's time for another Teneglia marathon in Toronto.
The event organizers and beach club staff deserve a LOT of credit and a huge thank you for pulling off a near-flawless event. I really hope that the event proved successful for them so that we can do this all again next year:
- No unreasonable lineups for entrance, drinks or washrooms
- food and drink prices weren't crazy
- courteous staff
- good sound, particularly for an outdoor venue
- room to dance or chill out on the beach (better than Guv, anyway)
- ample parking right by the venue
- no hassle in/out access with wristbands
- a reasonably clean venue, even after two full days of partying
- even little touches like flicking on the sprinkler system on the light grid for a while was a nice touch during the heat on Sunday.
It was somewhat disconcerting to see a healthy contingent of Hell's Angels out for the party though but I don't think there was any real drama.
anyway, I had a blast with you all...
- Jay, thanks again for transportation, grabbing early bird tickets and for basically kicking my ass to go in the first place...good times.
- Colin, for limitless enthusiasm, energy and anecdotes...and for peaking my interest in good techno on the drive home (we'll find a nice 3 B'n'E for you yet "There is...no...guestlist...tonight!"
- Paul, thanks for the always amazing hospitality in Montreal...please say thanks to Kate again as well...another Montreal weekend survived!
- Graham, cool to party it up again...it's been a while! The $6.00 is in the mail, lol.
- Drew...if he reads this...get Paul your info and hopefully we'll do it all again sometime...cool to meet you and trance out on Saturday night.
- RJ, Margaret, Ray, Tara...and quite a few others who's names escape me due to a severe lack of sleep and one hell of a mess here at work...It was great to have a contingent of friendly faces around and with whom to spend a fantastic weekend on the beach!
party of the year, no doubt...

Justin and I sat there in disbelief when he stopped. We couldn't believe they ended it then. That was the only bad part of the entire weekend.

What he said.
It was and probably will be the best weekend I will have this summer.
Best part of the entire weekend was Sunday afternoon in the sun during Lawler's set...Mark, Graham and I going crazy on the dance floor when the turn on the overhead sprinklers...will always remember that moment.
Thanks for coming Mark...next time don't be so hard to convince - good friends will always result in good times...the rest is just gravy.
Graham - always a pleasure, you always have a ride if you need one...glad you stayed behind and came back with us...good chats, and fun ride back thanks to Colin.
RJ - FRESCA IS VERY REFRESHING - thanks
Margaret, Tara, Andy, Justin, Sam, Ray, and...whoever else made this weekend great...thanks.
See everyone next year.

Fun freaking-tastic! I just love when a plan comes together at the last minute.
I had no idea of what to expect from this venue/party and went in with little expectations apart from good tunes. Great venue, I can't say enough good things about it. Nice beach, cool pool, great outdoor deck/dancing area, rather cheap drinks, staff who were so friendly and efficient. The staff blew me away - the searches were minimal, just emptying your pocket, no pat-downs. Visible presence of security but they were merely strolling around, not pushing through the crowds. The one girl I saw that was thrown out was just politely asked, she simply walked out (still bopping to the beats) while a bouncer trailed after her to make sure she left. And the girls bathroom was being cleaned and resupplied continously, even at 11pm. These people knew how to keep everything running smoothly! The crowd was good, didn't see anyone sketchy, everyone was there to soak up some sun and good tunes. I didn't see any rude people but then again from 3:30 onwards I barely left the dancing area.
So onto the music - we caught the last bit of Sean Miller's 1st set, the patio/deck had happy sun-lovers dancing away. His 2nd set (opening for Lawler) was dirtier, more bass heavy. Lawler, oh wow, that was fantastic!! Nonstop big room sounds, very dirty, shake yer ass tunes, spot-on mixing and he skillfully worked the crowd into a frenzy more than a few times. I would have been perfectly happy if he ended up closing out the night, even knowing that DT was up next. One of the best Lawler sets I've seen in years.
DT was very good, from the time he walked into the booth you knew he was excited to be there. Lots of styles and even a few breaks and techno tracks added to the mix. Yes, the flashlights came out and he was having a ball working his magic. It's obvious he loves Montreal, he couldn't say enough good things about the crowd, the venue and how happy he was to be playing outdoors. There were a few obvious off mixes but the track selection and flow made up for it. Oh and he dropped samples of O Fortuna ~10:30, that had me grinning my face off.
I'm happy I only went on Sunday, 2 days would probably have killed my feet. Last night I slept like the dead and it's only now I feel normal again.
Big hugs to Toby and Walid, I'm so glad I got to experience Sundance with you guys! Great roadtrip, awesome hotel, more energy drinks than we knew what to do with and holy booze overload on Sunday. I won't have wanted it any other way.
