What a blast. I never went to Giant NYE but after this, there is no question thats where I will be next time. About the only negative was it was hotter than a mf.

We started out with Omar Kahn who wasn't too bad save a couple of trainwrecks. I just wanted to be at the opposite end from you know who lol and Omar got things going for me. Then hit Zabiela who just tore the place up as expected. We were dancing and screaming and jumping so much we were beat by 11:30 when we left to take a break and grab a bite.

Went to meet some friends at Oakenfold and I do have to say he had that crowd working if that means anything. We weren't there very long but it seemed like everything he played was from circa 2000. Probably would have stayed a little longer but we wanted to see Markus.

Hit up Markus but was very dissapointed. And I generally love Markus. Whatever he was spinning wasn't working for me and the sound was terrible. Way too loud. Harsh and painful. The system was obviously being over driven. We didn't stay long which was too bad as both Leah and I were really looking foreward to his set. Spent the rest of the night bouncing between Deep Dish and Digweed. Deep Dish was good but Digweed owned.

I remember 8:00pm to 11:30pm crystal clear. Everything that happened. 11:30pm till 4:00am is just a empty hole in my head. I remember looking at the time, thinking it was around 2:00ish only to have it be 3:51am. The night just flew by.

Can't wait for the next time.

Got in about 9:00 and had to endure some horrific tabberner because everyone kept wanting to meet by the ferris wheel.. once usher came on i got so fed up i just left to check out the stages until zabs came on. I was very impressed with the lighting setups on Hope and Grand, super tight styles.
Headed over to zabs and as previously mentioned he brought the ferocious dirty sounds and had that block rockin for sure. Once he ended I kind of blanked out until deep dish came on (what did i do for an hour and a half? )There was a shitload of people over on that block which made for a helluva good party. I remember seeing Ali up there for about 20 minutes but then Sharam took over for the rest of the night. Maybe Ali got as wasted as we all were. Checked some Digweed and Lawrence for a while but my group was at DD, so when I get back to them they're standing there taking pics with zabiela! i guess he was just cruisin' the festival and saw my friends RaveLizards shirt.. That was an awesome bonus to get to meet one of my favorite dj's.

Then we went to the Avalon "afterparty", where swayzak proceeded to shred my eardrums with terrible droning bass and retarded ass samples overlayed. The place was the typical 5 Am crowd with dirty whores, pimps, meatheads, washers and trashed floors. Half our group left then we went to the patio to try and hang for a while longer till Schultz showed up, only to see Sharam just chillin. Went up and thanked him for a great party. Saw about 20 minutes of Markus, and just was over it i guess and headed home about 7:30.
GIANT kicked ass

I had a good time, it was just SO HOT! Especially if you wanted to go into one of the tented areas like the Deep Stage and Community Service Stage. Dekay seems to get better every time IMO. Markus's set seemed to go by really fast, but I enjoyed it.

I am surprised that no one saw (or at least has mentioned) Hybrid's set. I suppose thats the problem, if you can call it that, with these festivals when they load up so much talent on different stages. I wanted to catch more of Deep Dish's set and Crystal Method's having never really seen either in action before but c'est la vie, Digweed put it down. It was just funny I thought because I left James' set half way through as he was laying down some really dope breaks, complete with scratching and efxing his scratches, then went over to Hybrid and was just floored with their breaks all the way through. I Choose Noise can't come out soon enough.

Zabiela was sick.. glad I got to here him... however let me express my thoughts on Deep dish... If I would brought my "say hello" vynl with me I can think of at least 5 times I would have chucked it at the DJ booth... I wasted my time walking over there... digweed was good but I was to tired bye then cuase DD made me loose my buzz... I think I have came to a realization that if i have a vynl dont go to hear the person live... I usually end up disappointed.

the music was awesome in nearly every room. The vibe was awesome. The VIP turned out to be worth the $$$ I was wasted by 10pm. But the lines never got toooo bad. And we had our own bathrooms.

except they ran out of water....wtf!!!

CL & JZ Killed it!!!!

but I have some beef with Swayzak being booked at the after hours@Avalon. That was without a doubt the worse display of electronic music i have ever heard.

There was a 2 minute segmant of straight distortion and the rest was simply noise. There was another minute or two of complete silience. When markus walked into the club, he said he walked in and saw about 500 people standing in a club with no music being played. That must have been weird as fuck. SWAYZAK PLEASE DONT COME BACK TO LA!!!

It totally ruined the vibe and made Markus' job quite difficult.

I agree with all the Hybrid praise and Oakenfold bashing
and goddamn it was H.O.T. I thought Giant would be prepared with fans or some type of cooling devices...I mean, there was a fan on the goddamn flier !!!

This was such an AWESOME experience. I have never been to a Giant Village before and this was amazing. The entire scene was so different that any Rave type event.

Everyone played and banging set. My faves were Zabiela, Digweed, and Christopher Lawrence my god did he blow the crowd away. So many build ups and then droped it back down so hard. over and over and over again. He was the last stage standing.

I saw soooo many TA and others I know from everywhere. There were soooo many people, and all 21+ weeee. No kids running around in fur and only a few glowsticks. I got to ride the Ferris wheel 3 times and took mad pics and an awesome video.

Pics to come soon.

Awesome, awesome time. Very efficient setup, with the exception of only 2 bathroom outlets for VIP, and one for non vips. having VIP was definetly worth it, cuz I must of had at least $200 in drinks.
Can't wait for next year and New Years. Sasha and Diggers:
