i think if the label was endorsed by tranceaddict. and in some way benefitted ta then it could be really pushed into everyones minds. i mean, everyone who is everyone in trance knows ta. and some big advertising sceme on the frankly disused front page would really push a label into the big domain. all that matters is getting decent tracks released.

1 problem is that the idea of a label kind of defeats the point of ta. i mean the artist promotion page is primarily aimed/used by us amature producers. and you really need bigger names aswell..

Don't think the idea of Zodiac9's Half/Free thing would help out in gaining more respect in the scene.

Selling the releases trough AudioJelly & beatport should be the way to go - i've signed up a label with audiojelly and it's actually FREE, you just split sales with them, beatport works with a comparable system - this also means you don't need a working "webshop" for the label - these sites get more traffic anyway.

Just have a professional looking (nothing too fancy) site with detailed information & previews on releases (check out Total Digital Recordings) - when someone wants to buy a track -> Audiojelly/...

About the half free thing > most people will not buy a track when they have the 128kbit for free, not even if they like the track - only DJ's that want it will play it on PA's will need a higher resolution version ... And if people want 'our' free tracks, they don't need to go to a record label - they can just come here ...

Maybe we can use another name and state that we sign the TA artists.
That will be less commercially effective but can still help.

"XXX Recordings. The only one that gaurenties to sign TA producers, vocalists ect." or something like that.

anyone ever consider a TA track? say a few producers got together and made a track. every persons talents put into it. it would certainly be a hit.

There was a competition a couple of years ago, but it was aborted halfway through because of a lack of interest.
I asked Swamper again last year, but he was not up for it. TA has evolved into a multi-genre website, whereas the anthem would undoubtedly turn out to be something melodic/uplifting. An anthem should define the entire community, but that is impossible the way things are now. A lot of members would probably hate the track, hehe..

My thinking is that there are already plenty of Indie labels out there, I'm on one, and I have a track for sale on beatport and Audiojelly. Anyone with good enough tracks can probably find a little Indie label to get on. If all someone is looking for is to get on the major online digital shops, the opportunity is already available. A TA label would be equivalent to an Indie label, so I don't really see the point, unless it is going to be something different and special, that benefits TA members. Otherwise, it will just be another Indie label on beatport and audiojelly.

And I think if you would limit a label purely to the members on a website it would ruin your chances.

So are you going to start charging money from the same amateur tracks we get for free now?

I don't think you're being realistic with this. It would end up being us selling our tracks to each other if it was just us TA's. We would just be flooding a market that's too full as it is.
