mmmm thats your belief. Why question something that you dont believe on?? If you think there's nothing above, why are you even questioning?!?! .. For many, there's something called faith and a testimony on greater things in life. Those who believe on God pray, and build this bridge of communication. Its hard to explain if you dont even believe in it. It's a strong thing if you are spiritually strong. if that makes sense.

Accusing me of being a bad influence on her child for letting her see me doing such disgusting thing in public (wtf i was eating a cheeseburger) when i should werry well know that becouse christ didnt eat meat i also shoudnt. The she proceded to ask me just what kind of a christian am i and when i told her i wasnt one she grabbed her doughter and slowly backed away like i was some sort of ax vielding murderer. I dont understand how people can hold rigid religious views inspite of the fact that they are highly educated. There are some PhD students in my Dept who will try and gather all non-christians, typically international students, and teach them bible. they bring food, have parties and then preach christianity. If you don't go to their meetings, they will give you a hostile look whenever you happen to cross them in a corridor. i'm like wtf ? keep your faith to yourself. And they don't try to convince you how good their religion is. They will ridicule your religion and without any logical justification claim christianity to be the only true religion. why ? 'cause it says so in the bible

This from PhD students, who wouldn't otherwise declare anything to be true, unless proved mathematically !

Thats the problem with a lot of religion. Some even look bad at others just for been part of the other religion.. even among christians themselfs. Some teach that they are the perfect one and the other's arent, and they would always look down on the others. Its the problem with people who claim to be religious and all Bible readers, but they dont learn the most important things from the Bible itself. Im religious but I respect all other religions, Im sure there are great people on the other religions as well and do great things also. Why look down on them?!!? .. respect its the key word. You dont even know how many christians bash me or throw me an ugly look or tell me Im going to hell for been what I'am.. oh well. Conclusion.. those people teaching religion and looking bad at you just cause you didnt go to their meetings need to learn more themselfs. Sad

Agreed. What's more appalling is the fact that these people are highly educated in science. They seem to compartmentalize their brain. They think logically only when it comes to science and fall victims to their own irrational belief when it comes to religion.

In my opinion, the most serious issue here is the lack of understanding of one's own religion. It has been said that deep down, all religions imply the same thing. Yet, on the surface they seem to differ widely from each other. Serious religious study should be left to the intellectuals who are capable of interpretting scriptures correctly and deriving the deeper implied meanings. But in today's world, people who claim to preach their religion are themselves not qualified to do so. Hence this difference of opinion and wars based on religious beliefs.

This thread really supports the stereotype that the irreligious are pricks with sanctimonious attitudes. For every answer you can prove that there is a god, you can proove there isn't and vice versa. Now you can tell me that most Christians are pricks too, but this isn't true, just as you and I know that most people who aren't religious aren't pricks also. You guys make it seem like people who are part of a religion are all bad people which isn't true. There are bad people, and there will always be bad people, black, white, atheist, jew, buddhist, whatever.

For every bad story you have with a christian, I too can tell you a bad experience with one. I can also tell you bad experiences I have with irreligious people, but I am not going to tell them. I would just be another irreligious person on the internet who thinks everyone is intellectually inferior to me.

That's what I love about aethiests, their smug attitude, especially when dealing with those who are religious. You can live believing in God, refuting Darwinism and believe the Earth is the center of the universe and still lead a fullfilled life. The problems arise when people from both ends of the spectrum try to impose their beliefs on the other.
