as for PYHUFD (what a silly acronym that tune makes)... i don't love it, but i don't hate it. i won't ever play it but i also won't run out of the room in disgust if a DJ drops it.

but starting a set with it, that is just laughable.

I didn't like this song the first time I heard it months before it was being played out, and I still don't. It does nothing for me. It's gimmicky on purpose. Sure it's mastered and mixed fine, but so what? You can't polish a turd.

Oh, and nice one calling out the hating for it being popular. That's always a classic response.

+1

Hating it cause its popular always makes me laugh too.

I love This is Not miami and its fucking popular too, OMG

And seriously if u dont hear why the most in this thread here dont like this tune than there's something wrong with your ears. Sure, u can like it, no problem there. But not understanding even remotely why we don't like it surprises me. Like being said before in this thread: it's repetitive and it goes NOWHERE. Doesnt make me nod my head or tap my foot even once. And yeah i've heard it on the dancefloor aswell. Its as bad as it is on the dancefloor here at my place

Yay for it if it works well on a dancefloor.

But when I hear it 4 times a day on the radio I'm not thinking "jeez this song is awesome becuase it works a dancefloor", I'm thinking "turn this fucking shit off".

Its a shit song, as UMW said you can't polish a turd.

heh, i had no idea this tune was renowned. i've only heard it twice on pete tong's radio show at work & thought it was ghastly... glad i'm not the only one!

three of my workmates who aren't into dance music & never comment on what's on the radio actually stopped & asked "what the fuck is this crap?".. i was cringing at the thought of them thinking i was into stuff like that

So if I tell you the SHM sound is old and played-out, does that mean that I'm hating on it because it's popular, or am I simply stating my personal opinion?

I think that too is a poor arguement. I agree, it doesn't go anywhere, but thank god for djs and their ability to make 2 hours+ of music sound like one track. Put in the proper place and edited down to <3 minutes and I think you have a nice track towards the beggining of a set or mix. Now, I think it is a terrible starter, but I think that's a given. You want something to pull you in, to interest you, while being "safe". That is at least my opinion when it comes to opening tracks.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not a defender of this track. I saw how high it was on beatport and was shocked. But, as I said before I see how it could play a nice role in a mix, while I think you'd have to be on something to think it'd really shine.

Oh, and by the way, a bit off topic, but as far as opening tracks go I really think Dirty South- Get Down would be a sick opener, at least if you are heading in the electro direction, while leaving yourself open for some Marine Party (Freelands label, do I have the name right?) type stuff.

no... it means you're not paying attention to Eric Prydz. Other than him you're right
