not exactly...you still have to line up the beats on every track (time-warping)...it is not automatic...it's only automated once you set it up correctly, and if the track is produced with hardware, or a vinyl rip, the process can take hours just for one stupid track.

all the top DJ's have people time-warping every track on ableton so it seems like it never fails. but ask any bedroom DJ who has to go in and adjust everything himself and he'll tell you what a pain it is.

Unfortuntaly i missed the show because i drove right into New Jersy expecting to find Central Park. Later on in the night i pulled over and asked for directions and he told me in a long ways from New York and im in New Jersy

But as for the pictures i saw, the crowd looks hurtin. They all like they never partied in their lives before.

But anywho, have fun whos goin tonight and enjoy yourselves.

P.S.-Was there anyone chilling outside the venue?

Choosing Ableton for his gigs is also not a fault of his, avoiding a type of equipment because of the error chance is just silly. cds skip, needles jump, lappys crash. As far as Ableton "doing the mixing for you", that is irrelevant. He is not mixing with Ableton. He is layering multiple tracks and samples to create music on the fly. Yes to the regular joe this all sounds the same because they have never heard the original track to begin with. However, from the DJ perspective, it gets boring mixing in and out of tracks after you have done it for over a decade: he's keeping himself from getting bored, and at the same time giving the hardcore fans [TA] something new to listen to. Hope that confused you silly.

Lots of dj's who have played for over a decade still use the original method. And maybe Paul should stop playing the same tracks in every set and sometimes twice if he doesn't want to become so "bored" with what he is doing.

My impression of the set...
meh...
It seemed like he was playing too much to the drummer - dragging out songs and losing the flow...
But I'll wait for a full review until after tonight..

Anybody else going to Studio B after-party tonight?

Considering my expectations were very low, I must say it was a pretty good show, I def. did not expect to enjoy myself this much.
Beer was shit, bathroom lines were too long, but I enjoyed his show much more than last year's. He played some really old tracks, like:

Marcel Woods - Time Is Running Out (I was actually expecting to hear traffic after this )
DK - Murder Was The Bass
PvD - For An Angel
PvD - Time Of Our Lives

Can't remember/couldn't ID the rest.

For a while we had no idea why the snare drum was so damn loud, later we realized he had a drummer on stage...no wonder sometimes it sounded like the songs were slightly out of beat. Anyone know who that drummer was?

The sound wasn't so good this year, they got rid of the back speakers, there was not much echo this time, but way too much treble, especially when he used the flanger.

I'm glad it wasn't as packed as last year, there was actually room to dance, at least where we were.

finally! a good review! i thought he killed it once the nighttime set in.. and i think his mix of 'control freak' was great.

i quite liked his set. played a lot of tracks i haven't heard and spun more on the harder side. i just found it kinda weird when the beats slowed down to almost hip hop beat tempo... that just confused me. dunno if thats what you guys were referring to when ableton failed on him, but i was in the bleachers and heard the bpms hitting like 100.. haha.

aside from that, i didn't think his mixing was bad at all. the sound at that stage is kinda weird, it creates an echo make it seem like there's a double beat, but if you were direct center the whole time, it was indistinguishable.

after the way he ended though, i kinda felt like he was saving up for tomorrow. cuz towards the end, he definitely toned it down a bit. kinda wish central park could stay open later like the tobacco warehouse. woulda been nice if pvd could've gotten 6 hours each day as well.

overall, i had a good time. it was good re-meeting some people at element last night. i really enjoyed ryan's set. victor's was pretty good. and the closer started off kinda weak but ended nicely. i left as ferry corsten - fire came on..

see ya'll at central park this afternoon

Despite what everybody says, i thought this was the his best showing @ CP yet! I got there at 4:30 to find a huge line outside but i cut the line and went right in which was nice. When i got in he was doing a soundcheck and everybody was up front for really no reason at all. I was really excited to see how he was going to play and like usual i was fe. not disappointed. He played really hard from the beginning and never stopped. After the first five minutes i knew it was going to be a fantastic night. I still can't believe he played 4 Strings - Into the Night It sounded so good and really made my night! He spun so many fantastic tracks that got the crowd moving non stop. No need for tracklists because it was recorded so we'll get the full playlist soon enough. As the sun went down and the crowd was getting bigger he started to play some harder stuff which really went down well IMO. The drummer was pretty cool and was a nice touch by PvD, definitely added to the performance. I couldn't wait for the lights and the lasers to go on because the setup just looked sick and i couldn't wait to see how nice it was gonna be. Again i was not disappointed by that and the lighting was sick!!! Lasers everywhere, red ones and green ones. Plus the lighting was top notch and the visuals were pretty damn good. What more could u possibly ask for? Anyway PvD was tearing it up and played an almost flawless set, except for when Ableton f*cked up one track, even he didn't know what had happened. But it was all good because he didn't care too much about it and kept playing some great tunes. His new track Stormy Skies was pretty cool, i had only heard the first version with no vocals and i gotta say it's a pretty good track. Me and Kadomony were up front the whole time going nutz and everytime a big track came on he tapped me on the shoulder, so i turned around and he always had a huge smile on his face, so he was having a good night too as far as i could tell I was surprised i didn't see many TA's at all tho... Getting back to the night, I knew PvD was gonna play time of our lives and for an angel and when he did it sounded really freakin good on that system! i wanna know what his encore was, that track was sick!!! After he was done i didn't hang around too much for the signing because it was impossible to get anywhere near him, and plus all the posters they were throwing out were getting ripped so it was pointless.

^^^^ Couldn't agree more. I thought last night was one of his better sets in a while. Maybe it's because the only time I listen to trance is when he's in town, but there seemed to be tons of great, fresh tracks with the right amout of classics. Great energy, the place was going nuts the entire night, I thought his mixing was pretty spot on, don't understand what everyone is talking about in that regard. And I've never seen Paul so animated, looked like he was having a blast. Can't wait for tonight....
