Maybe I’m just hanging onto something that isn’t there for me anymore.

I can completely relate to this, even as a (former) bedroom DJ.

Best wishes on your future endeavors.

Good luck! Also, have fun in India. It was a shame we couldn't get together last time you were down, but if you'd like to know about some sick clubbing nights in Bombay- let me know, I'll hook you up!

Thank you Karl, for helping me as much as you have in the last couple of years here. It's because of you that I've learned a great many things, from simple programming suggestions all the way up to essentially holding my hand as I learned the ropes of harmonic mixing, and I couldn't be more grateful for the lessons I've learned.

Massive respect to you my friend, and may the rest of your journey in life see only the finest of days. I'm not usually one for words that have any religious or spiritual significance, but, for the rest of your days...

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.

Cheers,

Rob

Can't believe I missed this thread! See what happens when you're out of town on business for a few days? I'll just echo some of the others: I'm a noob bedroom DJ, but your posts have always been helpful, well-reasoned, intelligent, and sincere. I don't recall you ever bashing someone for asking a "noob" question. I don't recall you ever berating someone for his or her question. Thanks for all your insight, and enjoy your time with your family. I often look at mine and wonder where the time has gone so quickly. This year it's kindergarten and fourth grade, and before I know it they'll be asking for the car keys and date money. Enjoy your vacation, and I do hope to see you back here again soon.

much respect to a man who definitely deserves it - Nem, again, best of luck on your future endeavors.

however, i must comment, don't let the new blood get you down, these days, gadgetry has made it easier and sound a bit overcooked in many cases, but the sound of someone doing it oldschool and doing it well is unbeatable.

i understand this isn't the only reason, but i just felt the need to comment on that.

and this comes from no veteran DJ, but from some new blood, rather. while i myself favor toys with many bells and whistles, to this day, my favorite DJ still spins his vinyl on 2 tech12s and nothing more, and delivers better sets than anyone else i've seen live.
