Again I think we're being to critical of his mixing. A DJ is just a DJ. Now if you're into scratching, beat-juggling and all that jazz I can understand being this anal about it. But the guy's job is to play tunes that people will shake their booty to and do it as seamless as possible. I try not to criticize a set unless I listen to it live and in person as it is an entirely different feeling. I bet most of the people who were present for that Essential Mix (assuming it was recorded live at a club) went absolutely bonkers the whole time.

Yeah too right.

Hes done some good stuff and can mix well. But it's very samey for me a lot of the time. I get fucking bored of all of it. Then every half hour he'd throw down summet with a bit of melody OR the arctic monkey remix. But then back to the beats again.

It's just not my kinda sound I guess.

I'm not tired of SvD... he is still carving his own (slightly dubious) niche in the hard/techy side of trance...

However, I am getting tired of 100 threads about him, making it appear he is gods gift to the next best thing in the scene.

He's hardly 'made it' yet.

Im gettin a little tired of the similar loops and basslines he uses. The remix of the Arctic Monkeys is pure gash imo. But is under his "Purple Haze" guise where there is real variety and touches of genius. As long as he can keep making the progression in that guise then ill be happy.

Would love to hear a new "Sandler" tune as well right enough

indeed! he's got his own sound, can't say that about 99% of trance producers these days!
I'd rather have him boore me to death with this sound that go with the damn flow

this fuzz about him scares me, same happened to Marcell Woods and now he's on the bordeline the euro cheese. Fame is a curse!

As for other top jocks not having their own sound...

Paul van Dyk: crap/pop/tech house (including stuff he just found from 2005) sped up to 138-140bpm. Spliced with some uplifting and hi nrg trance, a few techno and acid techno tracks thrown in for good measure.

Tiësto: popish house, some "prog"ish house, vocal house, prog trance, and every now and then some epic/uplifting trance.

Armin: his crap taste in progressive trance with an occasional tech house track thrown in. From then on it's gripping on for whatever's left out of the epic/anthem/uplifting trance teat and watering it down for all it's worth.

Ferry: mostly his own productions which are generally cliché tech house trying hard to maintain a trance feel. Then throw in some melodic/uplifting trance tracks in there.

At least that's what I hear. I'll await the chuckles at Tiësto playing prog house, but whatever, that's my take on it. They each have their own sound, it's just usually crap. They're all trying desperately to branch out into house to garner a larger audience.

as for Sander: tech house tech house tech house and his own techy trance productions.

Well, that shit that has that buzzy bassline that everyone calls electro house. I haven't yet heard a correct definition for it, I just know it's not electro house so I call it tech house because the bassline sounds semi-techy to me.

Back in the early 2000's and late 1999's it was mainly trance/techno as far as I have heard. As for the early 90's, house and techno. He didn't really have too much trance in his sets until 45rpm.

I could be wrong, but this is just my take on it.

Yeah it's time Marcel Woods releases a new killer tune, because I've heard enough Advanced remixes now (though the bit's and crushed remix was the best remix I've heard but nothing beats the orignal imo)

About SVD playing Techhouse and stuff, he always played techhouse just like techtrance and techno and such but he spinns more swedishhousemaffia kinda stuff recently because that genre is very popular right now and there are plenty of awesome tunes of that genre atm. It will fade away.
