No, it's not.

In fact I leave venues that are too loud like that when I don't have my plugs on me.

If it doesn't hurt, it's still damaging your ears.

If it hurts, it's REALLY damaging your ears.

Just TURN IT DOWN. I mean, how loud does it really have to be? Especially when the systems aren't well tuned, it's all distortion.

If a system is turned down more, it'll attract more people, and clubbers and djs will be around a longer time.

Club Bleu in detroit is FUCKING LOUD, wayyy rediculous. Really unfair. They can look baddass in other ways.

A lot of shitty clubs crank the fuck out of their lousy systems to try and compensate for the poor quality.

If the components are quality, and they are set up professionally by a trained engineer, then there is less of a need for extreme volume. I wish more clubs understood that sticking some bass bins along a wall and a tower of speakers in each corner does not for good sound make.

Good point. In the case of Club Bleu, their system is ace, but still fucking loud. Their lows are amazing. The best bass I've ever heard, but the high and mid are too loud.

I've been there once. They do have a pretty decent sound system i'de say. Ferry is coming on October 10th, unfortunitely I can't go to the events down there...wish I could. Never seen Ferry...and he's been here like 4 or 5 times already...

the thing in clubs is though that it feels much better if you can feel the music with your body. and that requires the music to be way too loud for your ears, so everyone should use earplugs, but most people are too stupid to use them. a club that plays music at around 80dB at peak time just won't work. it's a tricky situation that should be solved somehow.

unfortunately... this hasn'e caught on in Australia, and ppl think i'm a freak for wearing my ER-20s... I dont give a shit

...

WTF>.. toilet paper!... wonder how well that works... lol.... i'm sure u'd get an infection or something

It's very easy to feel the music, if u pump out bass at around 5-20dB. These sorts of frequencies are more felt than heard... get the idea???

Ideally, i think a club should be at 100dB

I think it's one of those "oh crap, I need something now" type situations. I dunno about infections though.

The trouble is also people voices. Ever been in a club when the music has died? The vocies are almost as loud as the music at times.

I have been reading up about Phazon Sound Systems. And I think I am in love!

They are meant to be the best in the world because of the sheer attention that goes into tuning each system and compnet. You feel the bass and hear all the highs. But experience no ear fatigue because it don't need to be loud to be heard or felt.

My local superclub is shit for volume. Unbelivably loud, I belive i read it can throw out 136dB?!?!?! Thats fucking stupid. The fucktard DJ is always redlining the mixer too. And it so loud that despite all their effort to sound deaden the place you get bass reverberations so bad the whole tune is one big fucking mess.
