Your mix has already garnered some positive feedback from the masses and I almost feel guilty to say what I’m about to say, but what the hec! I listen to a ton of sets and not all of them revolve around my tastes. For the sets that don’t tickle my fancy I always try to find some common ground with at least one track that I can identify with, but with this set I could not find one. Sorry RJT I really did try. To sum this puppy up I just want to say keep doing what you love and never settle for less musicwise. |
Stevie don't ever be sorry for being honest - It only helps

As opposed to Clovsha's mix that went a little too much 'everywhere' for my liking, this mix could've done with just a little more of that for me.
It's a good effort with good mixing (I like the way 'Deer' is mixed in) but by the end of the mix it got just a little bit bland for me.
The way the first 5 tunes are put together, is great tho. All in all, listening was still time well spent
Oh and that track round the 49:00 mark is insane |
Thanks for the listen and the thoughts m8!
I think the best way I can respond to both of these sets of criticism is to say that when I was putting this together, I knew it would only be a short while until I heard thoughts along the lines of the both of yours. The tracks in this set aren't necessarily going to be as accessible as a lot of what else is out there, and the flow of the set without doubt caters to a very specific mood.
Stevie, I think in general this was probably just a bit to far away from your own preferred style of EDM for you to really enjoy; And brotha, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. "EDM" is so broad that at the end of the day, creating a set that will appeal across the board to the masses would be near impossible. I really do appreciate your listening with a critical ear.
And Emre, in general, I'm guessing that where your struggle with this comes in around the time that "Drug Addict" or "Deer" comes in. It's another part of the set that I knew right from the get go that if people didn't instantly "buy it" or understand the kind of tone I was going for in that second 3rd of the set, they'd more than likely either be bored or irritated at the "bleepy" section of the mix. Again, I think it might be personal preference, but there's also a good chance I could have done a bit more editing and created a touch more flow to the end of the set.
Thanks again guys - Really apreciate the feedback!
