This was my second time at CoZo, (the first being when Scum Frog was last here). I was there from 7am till Tim Patrick finished, and had been at Footwork before. I wasn't really digging the music at Footwork, but CoZo more then made up for the night/day.
A few highlights for me:
- As soon as I enter CoZo, tribal is POUNDING, (instant smile)
- Sydney Blu was awesome, defiantly my favourite set that I've heard from her. It seemed more "serious" and less "lets get the party started".
- Anthony Attalla... first time seeing this guy, his style seemed very dark... exactly what I like. MINIMAL TECHNO is really growing on me, can't wait to experience more.
- Then came the Tech House! I was pretty much dead after Anthony Attalla, and was planning to leave soon. Tim Patrick comes on and unleashes hell, Tech House is insane, some of the tracks were literally giving me chills, (some evil remix of Rej - Ame had the place going crazy, Wayno even woke up and began dancing again). We were all "playing hurt" and couldn't get enough of it. I was so impressed by the set, for the first time ever, I felt inclined to talk with the DJ after. Basically I told him that it was fucking incredible, and wished the set was recorded.
I don't normally post anything near this magnitude, but musically, this was one of the best experiences I've had. I'm really starting to define my tastes in EDM, and it’s kind of a cool feeling.
Lastly, is it just me, or does CoZo bring out the best in DJ's? I've been to Gallery a lot, and I've heard Deko-ze and Sydney Blu plenty of times. When I first heard Deko-ze in CoZo, (when Scum Frog was there), it was a totally different sound, and in my opinion 100X better. Same with Sydney Blu. I get the feeling that they don't care as much about appealing to a broad audience at CoZo, but rather play what they want to play, which is awesome. With that mindset and that great chugging/dirty bass setup they have in CoZo, it’s no wonder people swear by this place.
