Eastern and Western France seem to be quite different apparently.
It's true that the language that would be more more spoken where I live is German...although students in middle-school and high school never ceazed to complain that German sucks big ass

Btw, I don't think that French students learn English for 9 or 11 years...uhh..
or maybe that's again different in the West of France ?
Here it would be either 7 years if you take English as your first language in "6eme" (6th grade)(4 years in middle-school, 3 years in high school, college doesn't really count..and i'm not sure about primary school) or 5 years as your second language.

I agree with you 100% when you say "But when you travel, as you did, you can notice that we're definitely not european citizens, either citizen of the world, yeah we live in the world, but we are deeply tagged by our native nation"

When I travel, i'm trying not to be influenced by the place where I grew up, but that's obviously very difficult. And, well, not EVERYTHING is that bad. We can gain from any culture.
I just wish people around me were more tolerant..mhh..

That was a wise post !

What about the others on this board ? What do you think of our talk ?

26 and 27 is coming pretty soon...

I'm should definitely stop to listen to such crazy and mad sound, go grown up kids and listen to jazz in myu sofa after a good working day with a good beer in front of tv.

And i'm still wasting my time in front of this comp', looking more @ Dj's and lasers in parties than to the wonderfull cybergeared chicks. Ruining my brain with psychoactive substances.

But, one day will come, but not tomorrow i guess.

Btw, cos' we are invading this thread and goin' totally out of the subject did you get some pics from the TE ?

I have some of you still not scanned them by now cos' of this xp and i have not found yet drivers for my three years old scanner but if you get i would love to give a look.

guten Abend

I spent one year in a fucking IUT (note to people who don't live in France, an IUT is a type of french college) in Metz (with Lytchix), and believe, i got so tired and pissed off of all those people with their hatred against the US and stuff

Arf! It's not the first time you run down France & French ppl... I don't think we are anti-US ppl in Northearn France like in the whole french country!!
It's rather you which have a hatred against your own country!

French ppl are not narrow-minded! We don't boycot neither US Cinema nor US Sportwear!!
But we have a critism spirit and we can see that globalisation don't always bring us the best look of american culture! I'm sorry but Mc Donalds is fuckin food IMO and in those of a lot of ppl (not only from France for sure!)...

Maybe it's a conservative mentality but not a narrow-minded one! We're just next to our traditions and you've to respect it!

why ? because they don't want to learn "the language of the fucking american imperialists" as they say

I agree, But people are starting to learn it at a young age in those country's. French people make fun of you if you speak Canadian French or if your from America. And their pretty ruthless when they do it to.

Well, you know whats stupid.

When German people come to Holland they always start talking German to us. They do it automaticly. They don't say: "Sprechen Sie Deutsch" (Do You Speak German). No, they start right away like there still in Germany.

But Dutch people always adapt. We learn German, French, Englisch & sometimes Spanish in school. A English girl ones said to me that Dutch people speak better English than themselves.

Well, People in europe speak alot better english then poeple in the U.S. The reason for this is because its proper english. I hate the way americans talk. I grew up in a german househole. And I like the way my parents speak more then me and my sister's speak. But I guess its just the way we grew up. Hence.. Being more social in school then at home..

No offence to anyone from 'la belle province' but,

you could also legitimately replace 'France' in this statement with 'Quebec' hehe.

If you had read my posts more carefull, you'd have understood that saying "against your own country" makes no sense to me : I only consider France to be the country I live in, I don't "belong" to it in terms of culture, traditions and other nationalist feelings this country can give to me.

I agree I was being harsh while at school with you all, but isn't that better to point out problems that exist in the country you live in than countries where you don't ? I find that much more effective and if you want people to be aware of all these problems and maybe find a solution. (not 20% of the French for example realize that the country is years behind when it comes to technology and Internet development).
Is that a crime to dis oneself's country ?
Notice all the Americans on the board who don't like the US.
And it's my own right to feel upset about these issues. I'll develop more later.

I agree with you with you that not ALL French boycot American stuff, but the opposition is pretty strong, and absolutely hypocrit too, because those buying American goods will be the ones complaining about US invasion in France so...

Extulas, see, what you said doesn't surprise me at all. Just another example to show that the French are generally very arrogant (I have many more examples) but it's true about the Americans and The French Canadians as well...

Like Zarathustra said, maybe it's even worse in Quebec...From the few I talked to, they sounded even more arrogant and stubborn than the French from France. Again, I'm not saying that applies to EVERYBODY, just the general impression.

You I was talking about french general mentality not really mine...

I agree with you on the fact that France is a little bit late for computer technology (only 23% of the French have Internet at home...) but it's not right for everything!!
French scientists are among the best in the world! Look at our car industry, TGV or telecommunication...)

You can't take no account of the fact that you're influenced by French culture (language, food, custums...)!! You went to french school! I'm sorry but a country is not only an area where you live!
