Forgot to mention - I've never ever had a sip of alcohol and never smoked a cigarette. No, its been a year and a bit and I have not had ANY problems with health whatsoever. Other than losing a few pounds. I joined the local vegan group, and there's people in it who have been vegans for 10, 15 years (WOW!!!)

I know I am overdoing. I just dont trust much anymore. I've been lied to and cheated by too many sources. Long story ... but the main point is, I am enjoying life - you might ask - am I having any fun? - oh boy, I have lots of fun!

Recreational activities, card games with buddies, information clubs and political talks, movie nights, sports nights, hanging out with the ladies, music/nightclubs ... and there;s lots of food to choose from!

The fact that you're vegan explains this post entirely, to me anyways.
Not that I have anything against vegans however through my own experience, with my wife, we've found that they do tend to get very indignant on the subject of food.
Not to mention vegans always tend to look emancipated; ie. not what I would call 'healthy' and without large shoes, will blow away with the slightest provocation of anything resembling a gale.

Again, I have nothing against vegans, I'm sure they're happy in their own little boxed world but for god's sake, eat a sammich!

Don't worry about me, I am not dumb and I am not extremist. None of my close friends are vegans. I go to their barbeque parties, smelling that eekie meat, but I dont whine or ridicule them. They know how I feel about it, and I respect their choices. I eat my salads/fruits, and they have their hot dog ;=) its all good!

I might be very outspoken and pushing my point always on the forums, but I am not all like that in real life ;-)

I wathced the documentary.


It is interesting. But completely biased.
It only touches one one benifit of GM foods, the possibility to feed the 'wold', of which I agree with its conclusion, that it is just a lot of words at this point.

I believe the real advantages of GM food are costs and the reduction of damage to the environment by reducing the need to use as many pesticides.

In the movie, mysterously only people who grow GM foods use pesticides because using pesticides is bad, and people who grow 'old fashion' crops don't. Yet the reality is the opposite. Just yesterday there was an article in the Wall Street Journal about a French farmer who is encouraging the use of GM seeds because they are more economical, grow a better product, and require less pesticides.

IMO if I had a choice between potentially hazardous by tranquil plants and cancer causing, environmental havoc reaving pesticides, I'd chose the plants.

Now there have been studies about mice, etc. where they show GM foods to substantially deteriorate their stomachs etc. Such research has been disputed, but I am not sure if the dispute is funded by GM lobby groups or is really scientificly valid.

What is sure, is that the GM lobby has been fairly successful in not having states or the nation label foods who have GM content, and in lobbying lawmakers with the assumption that GM foods are the same as regular foods, even though we really don't know at this points (but all signs point that they are more or less the same).
