Hmmm sorry to hear that. That's why I'm building my new PC in may. Vista's shipping 19500 drivers on the dvd.. and windows update has another 11000. I guess that's what happens when you rewrite an OS from scratch essentially.

for what its worth i was liking it until it wouldnt run my opengl stuff well... will give it another run in the new year

This RC2 is still frikin buggy as hell. The full release had BETTER be A LOT better than this lateset RC Ive been screwing with. Im back on XP full time, as I cant be bothered to spend a single moment more trying to make this OS tweeked any further when theres obviously a lot to finish on it still. Im finding a lot of missing script, windows that pop up with nothing in them, crashes for no appearent reason, CPU sometimes working 100% when all I am doing is waiting for it to boot up.........AFTER 25 MINUTES........etc...etc....etc.....

I can go on and on, but hey, its a Beta, and I fully expected this, and overall, I am impressed. I told myself I would be happy just getting it to run semi decent in full out 64 bit, and I have, and now im done.

It has potential to be fuckin cool shit, but theres no way I would actually purchase this OS untill at LEAST a service pack 1 or 2 is released.

That should give all the software and hardware manufacturers a chance to work out their compatibility bugs, while microsoft finishes the job they were rushed into just for the sake of making a release date.

XP is just to solid to let go and too reliable to dump for Vista..........right now. I also cant imagion running this OS on anything slower than what my specs are, which is a pretty decent machine. (details of my machine posted in a few posts above)

Id say in about a year from now, it should be solid enough to justify the purchase.

previous windows seem to eat themselves over time.
This one gets faster and faster somehow, im guessing due to all the indexing.
My Laptop boots in 10 seconds or less now, unbelievable
