As everyone has said before...Satoshi started out way too slow. Everyone was dying for him to pick things up...You would think he would notice. After 6, things got a lot better, but unfortunately I had to leave around 7. Still a great night out. Great crowd and vibe.

well igot to the club around 5, got inthere to hear him spinning Personal Jesus, wikkid toon, after that everything seemed to blur together, there were a few points where i found the music amazing, but for me in a club, was too slow. i can listen to it anywhere else, but i guess im too used to faster music when im out.

WoW agreed yet again....when that tune came on i went crazy!!! sooo good.

Had to post here after Saturday night after reading the forums for a couple months. First off, Sean Miller was amazing. Best set I've ever heard from him. I completely agree with what most people are saying. Although I had a good time, and there were moments in the night where Satoshi had me going nuts, I was a little suprised at the lack of flow to his set. It seemed like he'd get me going with an amazing track and then spin something completely random, then pick it up again. Still a good night though.

Just wanted to make a comment about the sweaty shirtless gay men that people seem to comment on whenever there's a thread about Sonic. I'm one of the gay guys that purposely keeps his shirt on, and goes to Sonic to dance and not pick up. But I just want to point out that it's not just the gay guys with their shirts off. I knew of at least nine straight guys at Satoshi with their shirts off, just as sweaty as the gays. And straight guys at Sonic really need to chill out and stop being paranoid, cause you're making me paranoid that I'm going to get yelled at if I accidently bump into you or make eye contact. Most gay guys are NOT checking you out. I'm usually just looking around the crowd to find my friends or enjoying the crowd. And even if I glance at a guy that I think is cute during the night, if the dude doesn't look back then I leave him alone. And If a weird guy grabs my ass while I'm dancing, I just tell him to get lost. I've never had a problem furthur then that. Just wanted to give my two cents on that, cause I'm sick of reading complaints about it.

Couldn't have asked for more on Saturday.

I had to attend a porkchop drinking fest earlier on, but rushed as soon as it ended so that I'd make it early enough to catch most, if not all, of Sean Miller's set. Luckily, I made it in without much hassle at around 1:30. I could have sworn that the price at the door was $30, and was disappointed when I had to pay $30 w/ glist, but I didn't mind paying that much for Satoshi Tomiie. I was surprised to see quite a handful of people already rocking it out on the dancefloor. It came to my attention really quickly that the crowd was very different; it was expected. Older, sketchier, but friendlier. I knew there wouldn't be many members of the CWC out, but instead, Sonic was blessed with the elite citizens of the bondage association. lol. Didn't bother me that much. On the other hand, I was bothered by the weirdest individuals I had seen. Some black woman (who I assume was drag), who wore some sort of "seductress" outfit, accompanied by her man-servant, was laying down on top of the wall beside the stairs, poked me and decided to make some ridiculous gestures with her eyes and mouth. WOW. Total sketch. Another incident occured with another black male, but for some reason, I think it was the same one except outside of the drag. WTF lol. Enough about sketch though. The vibe was excellent! The crowd was giving it their all... Saw so many awesome dancers who I recognized from Friday night Sonic parties. It wasn't too crowded despite what some of my sketchbag friends told me...always enough for me to splish splash. They kept the lighting a mimimum for almost the whole night. The darkness was perfect for what was to come. I made out of there alive and still kicking at the end, which was roughly a bit before 10 am. I rarely looked at the time and also only took one seating break...lately, that rarely happens with me, but the party was just incredible.

Most of my enjoyment came from the sets. Sean Miller is a local fav of mine, and lately I hadn't been enjoying his sets at Sonic, but he totally blew me away this past Saturday. I guess I can understand why: This time he wasn't opening for a tribal headliner. Some people have exclaimed that Sean Miller doesn't play his prime when he's in Toronto, and that he only plays his best internationally, but those people are ridiculous, especially after this. What can I say? He played THE best set I've heard him spin. I managed to catch almost all of it, and although I wasn't dancing for the first half, my ears were. I was awed by the tracks he was dropping. Not typical at all; Lots of prog stormers, and it didn't sound like a Sean Miller Sonic set. Vocals? barely existed. Circuit stuff? huh? where? Yea...exactly!
Mixing was great as per usual. It was a perfect opener for an expected Satoshi set. I noticed only one tune I could remember by name and it was also played by Satoshi Tomiie...in fact, I predicted that it would be played at least once:

4 am, Satoshi Tomiie was headlining, but it sounded more like a concert for demons from hell rather than a set. That's a good thing BTW. lol. This was my first time experiencing Godzilla's wrath, and I think I lost against the battle...more like...I died..many times...and became undead. He took the set to extremely bizarre levels than I was expecting. I knew he'd play dark and deep progressive house, judging by his productions/remixes and sets from this year. We were all wrong. Saying it was a mindfuck is an understatement! It was WTFOMGHOWWHY?! He mixing was godly; Alot of the time, he was mixing in the tracks without the use of headphones. That's pretty damn impressive! He started off the first 2 hours of his set with the most deep and dark progressive I've ever heard. It was slow, deadly, and totally unpredictable. They were a step above ambient, with some minimal aspects keeping it danceable. Waiting for the breakdown after the climax was like waiting for lightning to strike. You wouldn't know when and where it would happen. I really liked that. I gave it my all, and danced to the sounds of the nocturnal ritual. The crowd was too, but many of them were too dazed and confused...they didn't know how to react to the slow deathly music. Haha, awesome. The soundsamples for almost every song were like 'whoa!' Many times throughout the night, Steve and I would go up to each other and be like "Holy shit!", or "Wow...what a mindfuck." From 6 am on, Satoshi brought it up a notch by playing more upbeat minimal prog, and prog with more depth and melody...some tech house too This got the half-dead crowd to move their asses. They were pleased, but I was already smiling from before. Still, he managed to play the most evil music I've encountered. At one point, he played this one tune that sounded like a nightmare and I felt the way I did when Digweed played a similar song at Labour of Love: My hairs jumped from my skin, my eyes widened, my teeth grinded, and my body was shaking. The melody was so haunting, I felt like I was undead, travelling in the depths of a lifeless world. I moved like a zombie on ecstasy, manipulating my arms and legs into the casting procedures for a wizard's spell. LOL! Ok..I sound like a nerd now...but how else could I describe it?! I MUST have this tune! Unfortunately, I could not ID this or most of the tracks, but I did catch a few, including the song he played right after that one...it sounded like the crossing of hell into purgatory...making it's way into heaven. Holy fuck!

I recommend it...and you'll see why it made me tingle. What a ch00n! He also played

which is featured on Steve Lawler's "Viva" album. Great song. Vocals? Vat is dis? These did not exist the whole night, except for one or two thrown in randomly...one of these was mentioned earlier, and was also played by Miller...

haha...love this tune...it was Satoshi Tomiie Pres. Ice - Scandal In New York (Vox Mix). He teased the crowd 3 times...pretending like it was all over...but it continued on until a bit before 10 am. When he stopped the 2nd time, I yelled out, "Lonely Child!!!" which was my fav remix of his...after the 3rd time he stopped...that bastard dropped it as his last song!!! Wow...I feel loved. lol. I thought it would be the vocal version, but the dub was just as awesome to hear live. I seemed to be the only one who was nuts to hear it..

Alot of people couldn't get into it and left early, but those who remained until the end (which was a good handful) thought it was magical. What were they expecting really? Progressive house is unpredictable and not banging. It has it's slower and deeper parts..I cannot stress this enough. I had the time of my life, and it sucks that many of you couldn't be there. This review cannot capture the experience completely...I WISH the set was recorded. For those who were there, it was so awesome to party with all of you. I apologize if I went off on my own space or if I was anti-social. I was in a world of my own. I really like the direction that Sonic Saturday nights are heading...props to Carey on that one. I wrote WAY too much this time around. Aaah! GTs at the after-event. Nice to chill out with a bunch of you. Sketch! lol.

Next up @ Sonic for me...Demi! The war continues...this time, get into your camouflage gear and bring your bazookas! Who knows what manner of a monster we'll be facing...Afroman!? LMAO.

Regarding Sean Miller's set, coincidentally the best set I've heard from him was before Satoshi in 2005. Hmm...
