The TL is a scary place. The worst part about it is that it's not just one section. One street is okay, then the next four are bad, then two are okay... etc. You have to be really careful about what streets you're walking down. SF is a good place to visit, bad place to live. Too expensive (I paid 2400$ a month to live in a small flat in the city.) , too much violence, and it's loud, all the time.

& I don't know what you guys are talking about - the whole time I lived there I never thought it was overly crowded with gay people. It's the same as any other city. Personally I think Miami has more gay people than SF.

It sucked ass.

Same thing I was thinking.

The gayness wasn't something noticeable. Either i'm used to it.. or it's not that bad.

the tenderloin isn't as dangerous as hunter's point. it looks pretty sketchy and dirty, but the crackheads are mostly harmless whereas you'll get killed in hunter's point. in the loin, if trouble ever finds you, it's incredibly easy to get away unless you're a fat ass. powerwalking will render you faster than anyone in that area. either way, we're talking about 2 out of over 40 districts. and there really is no reason for ANYONE to be in hunter's point.

as far as the gay thing goes, it always makes people's ignorance shine when they talk about how gay sf is. unless you go hunting for them, you'll be hard pressed to notice gays. gay people look and dress the same as everyone else, the only thing you might notice is two guys/girls holding hands. the only time they are flamboyant is during their pride parades and maybe in the castro district, but i wouldn't know cause i don't wander into their one neighborhood. and contrary to popular mythology, gays don't go around hitting on everyone they see, they are pretty good at figuring out who is and isn't gay. either way i welcome the gays: they are clean, harmless and aren't interested in the women i am.

well you're dealing with a bunch of insecure people. i went to see chus & ceballos at mezzanine on what happened to be sf's pride weekend, so it was pretty much a gay party. i went with a couple friends and none of us were approached by any of the many gays inside.

the ones looking for action will try to make eye contact with you if they're interested. if you don't lock eyes with them or wink back, they won't come over to you. hetero guidos are more perverted and horny than any of the gays i've seen in clubs here. if they ever do hit on you, just take it as a compliment and tell them you're not gay. i promise they won't grow fangs and bite you in the neck. if people can't figure that out, they're probably better off staying in jesusland and not infesting our beautiful city with their intolerent homophobia.

Yeah no shit, but the one time I was in the loin wandering around at 4 am lost I thought I was gonna die. Last year the Love Parade was held right on the edge of the TL & when I was walking home alone late at night... terrifying. The TL is scary one way or another if you're a girl walking around by yourself lost.

I never want to live in SF again.

Visit maybe. Live, no.
