Hmmm, I believe we have had a nice conversation on these boards before, about what Trance meant to us and it seemed we agreed very much back then about the subject. I agree with you now, again.
There are sooooo many tunes I like and love, which still sound great for me today like Safri Duo - The Clubber (Live Version). I can go on and on about all the tracks I love, because I also love Chicane stuff very much, but yesterday before I went to sleep, I listened to an old set from Armin again (I was totally bouncing in my bed in the dark) and Hydra - Affinity came by as well. That was the moment when I thought: hell, I've listened to so many tunes but everytime I hear this one, it still feels like the first time I heard it. Hydra - Affinity is such an amazing, strong and uplifting production, it could very well be my favorite all-time Trance track. It is produced SO well. I mean it has this uber Trance feeling to it, it's not very 'wild' or something, but it has a simple yet very effective melody, well composed strings behind it, atmosphere. I think that's the thing that makes the track, the atmosphere. This track is pure magic, and that's what it is. Pure Magic. I love it. I've said it before but tracks like these make me happy that I've discovered EDM and people who don't like this music will NEVER understand the feeling I get when I listen to EDM. You just can't explain it.
EDM --> what a world. |
Yeah exactly, this track is just amazing. It's not this so over the top track, neither is it this really dark and murky and super deep track. Rather it's just bittersweet, it's melodic and uplifting, and it does have a deepness to it. It's one of those tracks that it doesn't matter what year it is, it will still be a classic and sound new. It's neither super complex, nor super simple. It's a perfect example of a track that I would call "spiritual" even though people on here hate it when I refer to this music like that, I just can't help but think there's some angelic and heavenliness to this track...pure euphoria. It's the second most beautiful and spiritual trance track IMO to "Seven Cities (Atlantis Mix)" by Solar Stone. Corderoy's "Sweetest Dreams (Ferry Corsten Remix)" comes pretty close to "Affinity (Thrillseekers Dub)" IMO.
