I definitely drink a lot more, and I don't get as much sleep as I used to.

I no longer tolerate shit mixing. It pisses me off to no end. I still love to go out clubbing and i find I drink a hell of a lot more now. And I get a lot more sex.

im like'n this thread.

i totally agree with what danny-o said and camshafter i know what you mean about drawing dj equipment durin school lessons. i used to try and find rhythms in everything visual too, i used also try and sync in my head two sources of sounds that i could hear.

dj'in and producin has sucked up heaps of my time, time that could have been spent meeting new ppl but instead i unsocialably sit in front of my computer lookin for new tunes or makin tunes. i nearly failed my last year of school coz i was so into producin but i couldn't really give a fuck, i was developing skills in something new and giving it a crack. theres been times where i've sort of lost feel and inspiration and ppl always puttin me down about never makin somethin of myself didn't help either, but when i'm doing it whether it being dj'ing or producing i feel a warm sense of belonging coz its what i absolutely love to doing.

it has changed my life in the fact that im now broke, owe thousands of dollars to my credit card, and still have no urge to stop any time soon

at times it also scares me, because i will often look up to "famous" djs, and think they are great yet the person next to me says 'oh how shit are his mixes' ... which leaves me to think, ok if you think this seasoned pro is shit, what must you think of my mixes... sometimes these attitudes really put me off... no one is perfect, especially the less experienced Dj's... some people accept mistakes and dont care, whilst some people frown upon them heavily like they are just so peferct...

and i hate politics that sometimes comes around between Dj's... at the end of the day we all share a love for EDM and just want to play what we think is a good set

imo production, more so succesful production, is what makes more of a difference when compared to just Dj'ing

I find it annoying now being able to beat match and mix, when walking along listeneing to a set and trying to walk on beats with the music haha..it might due to a small case of OCD lol but when u cant match it u feel like breaking into a run just to match ur feet on the beat haha but im too cool to do that, so i settle with a shit mix!! Im sure there must be someone else who does that!!

I started out like most in my bedroom with funny ambitions of making it big. I fell in love with EDM when I was 16 back in 96. I also figured it would be a great way to score some extra P*&^Y. I used to be a great pain and a source of inspiration to the headliners. If they messed up a mix, I wouldn't ridicule them, but I would let them know about it by making a funny face. If they had a great mix, I would also let them know about it. I always found that to elevate the DJs. They knew someone was paying attention. After I spun my first few sets in major clubs, that all changed. You gain a new level of respect of what it's like to spin night in and night out and be on point. DJing opened many doors for me. I met and partied with many people in various cities in North America and beyond. It's always cool to be able to step up to someone's decks at a house party and tear 'em a new hole with a sick mix. JUST BE SURE TO ASK FIRST. Nothing pisses me off more than people messing with my decks without permission.

I'm with Bones on this one. Being a DJ has turned me into an animal. I guess thats just more the business side of things though.

DJ'ing really hasn't affected my life as such at all. My entire life is built around music, starting from when I was a little kid. It's the only thing I particularily care about and the DJ'ing/production is a natural progression for me.
