about 2 or 3 years ago, it seems there are all of a were a lot of flamers that started posting on this board and its hasn't really recovered..or perhaps trance and EDM is becoming more well known in general and is just attracting a different crowd.

either way, it seem conversation on here was a lot more intelligent back in 01-03.

Heh was about to say that

On topic, a lot of people on here are FAR too harsh when it comes to criticism. They just like to hurl out personal insults that really have nothing to do with the rest of the convo, and I think that's why djs/producers have issues with this site. Also they're all a bunch of babies.

No, public figures are subject to public criticism, part of the package of fame, makes drinking and drug habits essential!

When giving criticism its alway necessary to justify your reasoning. I think anyways. This is a music discussion messageboard so we're all mature enough to justify our opinions.

Thats about it. But i believe anyone can say what they want, and if they want to be taken more seriously they should justify their positions.

I have to agree. The problem is that not everyone is mature enough and they are the ones that just flame for no reason. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but it's just flaming if you don't back it up with a valid point. So you don't like a track or you really think it's shit? Fair enough, but at least say why.

I know TA has a bad reputation around the world. I personally didn't join this forum because of that fact, otherwise I would have back in 2003. The thing is that, once you actually do sign up you see that there is alot of great people on here and it is a good site. It's just such a shame that there is a large chunk of immature people on here that just like to stir shit. I don't know whether they do it on purpose or not, but you're always going to have to deal with it.

It exists everywhere, but TA seems more prone to it. It might be because those people weren't put in their place when it first started happening and that is what I assume, but I can't say for sure as I wasn't around (except for ghosting a bit). It can be changed though. All you need is a few core people to start getting the flamers back on track and it will be good again.

I'm not saying it will work and it may not be the best solution, but if an effort is made to change things, then most of the time they will.

Back to the original question...
Yes I do believe that TA takes it too far sometimes, but with 65K users it's only normal. You're always going to have your bad apples, but they need to be dealt with, don't just let them go on about their business as they then think it's ok. It's much better to get a good debate going, rather than just a whole thread of "this is cheese", "this is shit", "trance is dead", "you're just a tiesto/avb/pvd/whatever fanboy" etc.
