He's not all bad and the problem with Oakenfold is his inconsistency as he still can put on the best show when he turns it on. Problem is that all the haters will point you towards his Amnesia set this year (which I gotta say is quite comical at times but in no way makes me wanna shot of may mouth on these boards and slate the guy).

I've see Oakenfold multiple times and never been disappointed once, the problem is that all those that bash Oakenfold never had the privilege to be present at the courtyard at Cream to witness a true master at work.

I’m a true believer that you do you talking with your feet, you have a bad encounter with a DJ and you don’t pay your money to that guy any more – don’t let the others influence that decision. Problem is that people are all to keen to pass on their hatred to others (a sad trait of most societies).

Yeah well said, I don't let others influence me - I make my own decisions I'd just like to see what all the comotion is about, I'll see if I can track down some sets but if someone can point me in the right direction that'd be great.

I say go see him!

I saw him a couple of months ago at Dragonfly nightlcub in niagra falls. It was one of the better nights i have had it this place (have seen tiesto, armin, nick warren, infected mushroom, etc). He was playing HARD all night. Maybe only one or two actaully trance songs all night and i believe it was about a 4 hour set

You reject. Putting to one side the fact that I strongly disagree with all of the above, what the FUCK does any of it have to do with his most recent performances behind the decks?

Lets all go pay 32€ to see some clown with a shit hair cut jump up and down for a couple of hours because he used to be 'good.'

The problem is that he used to be good. Operative words here, "used to". 4 or 5 years ago when he was doing something new, bringing a lot of us into this scene, he was fantastic. Playing all these new tracks that hardly anyone had heard before. It was just magic. But now that magic has fades as many of us have moved on. His sound isn't what it used to be, and he just doesn't mix like he used to. The first time I saw him, 3 years ago, I was blown away. It was an in store gig at a Virgin Megastore in Hollywood for his Bunkka cd, that was also the first time I had ever seen a dj live (I was under 21 and couldn't get into any of the clubs here). After seeking out more dj mixes, more cds, more live sets, I saw Oakenfold again about a year later. Horrid, trainwrecking almost every mix. I say almost because in a 2 hour set he managed to make 2 or 3 nice transitions, and on top of that he was playing the same stuff I'd heard from him a year before. I saw him again about a year or so later....SAME SET!! Not even kidding, he played 4 or 5 of the same songs over a year later. Not good songs either. I say see him once so that you can validate all these "wild claims".

I like that new song w Brittany Murphy.....I had no idea she could sing. And she's one of the few actresses turned singers that actually has a decent voice. The rest can be shot.

yah but that new song with britney is too comercial i saw it on entertainment tonight. thats just wrong what happened to old oakey my friend saw him in vancover 7 years ago and said he was amazing and his transport cd kicked ass but his new cd its depressing its getting dangerously close to madonna ish ness with the faster pussycat song.im not saying it sounds like madonna just its like pop trying to be electro, its just wrong. i will also add i have never seen him play so i cant comment on his live sets.

Man from personal experience I was quite disappointed in his performance. I went to see him about a year and a half ago, and as many had said, TRAINWRECKS. Also He wasnt jumping around or anything, looked bored out of his mind and just was doing it to get a paycheck it was really disappointing. He didnt even try mixing, I was watching him and he would just xfade or cut to next track and then when he did mix, trainwreck city. I figured since he was number one a few years b4 that it would be a great show, but all it was was disappointment and horrible tracks. I would never pay to see him again, tho I believe ppl are right, find out personally yourself, who knows maybe you'll get a decent show?

To find some older sets, check out TA's download thread. His famed EM from 8-13-2006, where he wrecks everything might be buried in there somewhere, but I got off another TA thread. Can't remember where... do a search. There's plenty of Oakenfold right here on TA.

Start here at the download thread
