It has nothing to do with the dj, and everything to do with the song.


Producers record tracks slower so the effects on the percussion have room to breath, and work. Especially with trance, because they know it is going to be played faster. The songs sound better if they are recorded slow, and pitched up later.

As an aspiring Hard / Hardcore Trance DJ, I won't be spinning anything below about 145 bpm... My bpm range will probably be anywhere from 150 to 180 bpm. Not that I don't like slower stuff, I just prefer it fast and hard... But for some tracks a slower bpm definately works better... I'm always looking for faster and harder stuff, but no complaints on the speed of epic trance. That's not really what I'll be spinning anyways. Although sometimes I do wish that some tracks were a bit faster so I could use them. Oh well... You work with what you can find.

i hate how like armins rising star - touch me part 2 vinyl, the vincnet de moor remix is so slow, its around 130 or something, how the fuck am i supposed to spin this in a set when my avergae bpm is like 145 and more, god damn, its not like touch me sounds bad when you raise the bpm
