ok first, how old are you?
it really depends on what it's worth to you, and how comfortable you expect to be. for me, i moved out when i turned 18 (my parents were unbelievably strict, and getting along was impossible)...i'm not very materialistic and i don't need a ton of money to support myself, so i was able to do it. it was REALLY hard at first, but it gets easier...i mean it's still a bitch (supporting yourself and going to school fulltime)...but it is completely worth it for me, state of mind wise, my parents and i have a great relationship now, and i am a hell of a lot more responsible then a lot of kids my age. to me, that justifies the negative aspects.
i don't really know a lot about your situation, if you don't NEED to move out, i wouldn't recommend it...but then again nothing is better than the satisfaction of being independent.

i agree.
the first time i moved out i was 16, but i was living with a boyfriend so the rent was split between us. when i was 18 i moved back home and lived there for a few months before i decided to move out for good (halfway across the country)... since then i've lived with boyfriends (splitting rent), with my aunt and uncle (free rent), and on my own (anywhere from $450 to what i pay now - $620).
paying rent is the biggest bill i have every month, and it sucks. if i had the option of living at home i would, but my mom lives in NY. the freedom and independence of having my own place is soooo nice, and i choose to pay for it because i can afford it. if i didn't have a full-time job, there's no way i could afford to live on my own.
if you've really got your heart set on moving out, try looking for a studio apartment. i'm not sure what rent is like where you live but studios are the cheapest way to live on your own (other than having roommates), and you've got the whole place to yourself.
also... keep in mind all the other bills and expenses that come along with living by yourself - heat/hot water/electric, phone, cable/internet, groceries, furniture, kitchen/bathroom accessories, etc... it all adds up and it ain't cheap!
