I'll give the demo a 6/10...I enjoyed the pads, fun to play around with them, but I didn't like one of the leads, and theres not all that much tweaking you can do with it. The sounds are quality yes but they're quality in a different direction from what I want. Just my thoughts

Can you create some user presets by combining dieferent sounds from dieferent patches? I've heard you Can't do that? What's the deal?

I just ran across Nexus and listened to the demo MP3s. I'm blown away personally. I will say that I am an amateur, and getting signed is really secondary to the fun I have with making music. I just love making music - whether it sucks or not. I have no problem with using presets. Many professionals spend time making these presets. And, they are good at doing it. I get inspiration from presets. I do create my own sounds as well. I also love tweaking with presets. But, there is nothing wrong with the presets themselves.

Isn't it really more about the entire composition?

Spectrasonics' Atmosphere has given me tons of inspiration, and we all know that is one giant tool full of nothing but presets with limited tweak-ability. By just listening to the demo MP3s of Nexus, I feel it will do the same. I'm sold already..
