apple has gotten my interest by their new found advertising in their witty commercials so i did take the effort to walk in the apple computer shop in the mall when i passed.... i was intrigued by the neato graffics and ergonomiclly looking computer but i took one swipe at the one button mouse i immediately turned around and walked out the store... they got my attention, now they need to discuss why its such a better machine than the PC... but first off they need to get a 2 button mouse... or explain why 1 button can work..

And something like 80% of all the parts are created outside of the US, i think AMD and intel have a few fabs in the US along with sun, but other than that nothing.

P.S. (DELL) They outsource theyre tech support as well to India so when you call you can expect to speak to a person who has absolutely no idea what you are talking about and that is reading you all the responses directly out of a book. Its fun to ask them something not in the book because they get all frantic and then put you on hold for a very long time trying to find an answer.

it just works right out of the box....(it sounds like an add.. but it's true lol)..

no viruses...

Tiger is way better than XP... that may change with Vista, but microsoft is always following the inovative design of apple..

You can use a two button mouse btw. i use one.

They're powerful machines and if you use your laptop for anything other than spreadsheets and word docs (which they do have all of that, I have the microsoft office suite for apple) then apple is the way to go..

I'm a recent convert (bought a macbook pro 3 months ago), but I would never advise someone to get anything other than an apple again.

I guess you're waiting to hear from me LOL

100% PC user here, live breathe and eat PC. I haven't completely played around with it yet (until I get my 2 button mouse that is lol) but can reason why it's a one button mouse. A lot of mac is shortcut keys, similar to a pc's ctrl c, v,x alt tab, alt space, etc. Within that functionaly only really requires one button for the tool point as 'system functions' are usually keyed in. Like to save apple s, where pc is alt/ctrl s etc.

One thing I am noticing that i highly dislike (and this could be because I'm doing it completely wrong) is that at home, I have a LAN with shared folders. Mac has nothing in it's 'network' folder/properties that has allowed me to keep a shared folder/connection to my other machines. Only for the fact that I have my media files in one place and other files on another machine. As you can imagine with my PCs, I can play mp3s on my workhorse machine through my media center machine without having to xfer the files from machine to machine. In the case of the macbook, it doesn't keep the connection open so the minute I stop working within the LAN connection, it disconnects it and forces me to reconnect it. Now I could be doing this completely wrong and probably am, just that I'd like the mac to sit on my network like any of the other machines currently.

Overall I am pleased with it's simplicity, yet I have not had any time to throw my hands into it completely. I'll post more when I find time to play with it. Now it's just strictly bringing it up to speed with the necessary files and applications that I may need when i'm on the move.

I could see why you'd feel that way - I use an IBm T60 at work and never use the swipe pad... just the red nipple. I recently bought a macbook(coudln't be happier), and can't imagine life w/o the swipe pad now. So much better, and it's very responsive. I think it takes a little getting used to, but when u do, u don't be disappointed.

one button works great because you'll be scrolling around with your middle finger on the swipe pad, and when you want to right click, you put your ring finger down with the middle finger and click, and boom... in the same way, you can be navigating a site and when you want to scroll, you put another finger down and drag up or down and the page will scrolll... very seamless... i definetly don't miss the wheel on my mouse.

Mac users seem cult like...similar to Saturn drivers.

Though i would switch to anything if it was better than what i use now. I just got a new HP laptop and it works fine for what i need (mainly for music and surfing the web) - how would a Mac do me any better?

I was very anti-apple until I actually used one at my friend's house and got hooked.

I mean, it's a computer. It's not going to cook you breakfast and jerk you off when you're lonely... you'll still be doin the same stuff in pretty much the same exact ways as any other computer. It's the little things, like the

-2 finger scrolling
-the expose feature, which is awesome when I am managing a ton of programs at once(see demo here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ05rFri82A),
-dvd burner(nothing special/diff here, but my old computer didn't haveo ne)
-runs like a dream

just a lot of little things. in the end, it's a computer, nothing more.
