I kind of like what Sharam has done on the new Global Underground. Let's not forget that when the GU series first started the first one included a mix from UK Hard House legend Toni De Vit (R.I.P.), and then later some of the best Progressive Trance mixes from Oakenfold and Sasha.
The new GU 29 Dubai should easily appeal to fans of Markus Schulz, and other DJs who have helped revive the success of melodic Progressive House. I like the fact that Sharam's able to hit so many forms of Electronica here - House, Electro, Breaks, Progressive House/Trance, Tech, etc.
I also enjoy both the underground and more commercial friendly releases of Deep Dish. I mean, come on guys it's not like Sasha has never done it with Sasha & Marie "Be As One", Other examples: Erick Morillo's Real 2 Reel alias, or Oakenfold's Planet Perfecto releases, or how about Dave Seamen producing Kylie Minogue? Mauro Picotto's "Komodo" and being part of the Euro act Clubhouse? BT producing N Sync, etc.
You can go all the way back to Dance pioneers like Georgio Moroder. Most of the big DJs/producers were influenced by him, and we're talking about someone who worked with Donna Summer, queen of Disco. Moroder's a great guy who produced an instrumental like "The Chase", but is also credited with pioneering EuroPop/Euro-Dance with records like the original "Flashdance". He even produced mid 80s Schmaltz ballads like "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin. Then in the late 90s he worked on a track with Talla2XLC if I'm not mistaken, so he's done it all.
