I am fond of Sam Adam's Brown Ale, although I can't get it where I live. FTL.

It's pretty good, a little on the bitter side though. There's certainly better beers coming from Holland, if you ask me.
Yeah - Loads of reasons beyond taste why I like it as well.
Thats not what the Budweiser ads lead me to believe RJT

The problem with wine culture in the U.S. is that outside of Northern California, there really isn't a substantial wine culture in this country. Sure, every big city has fine wine bars, but the fact of the matter is that for the majority of Americans, wine is not a beverage of choice - and especially not a hobby.

on a semi related note:

Referring to your stay in Holland?
Can't say I have the same reminiscent feelings thinking about Bud or Miller, sorry. The only decent beers I've had whilst in the US were Irish / Scottish

Reading difficulty arose because of your vague statement.

Its generic, its easy to drink, refreshing since it tastes like water, and most importantly it doesnt fuck you up nearly as fast as a good beer. That's why.
Hardly clear whether you are explaining your obsession or in general America's (but not your) obsession for the beer. The way you put it, you seem to lean more towards approval than towards a dislike for these beers.

You didn't try very hard then
(Experience in Holland + Grolsch) * (Recovering from Mono + Grolsch) = Freedom

You said you didn't know why people liked it, and I provided the answer.
I don't see where I said people should drink it, or that I did.

True, didn't really have the time to go beer hunting. I had to go with what the pub we were in at that moment had to offer, which, sadly, wasn't that impressive.
I'd love to go back to the US and try some more, though.
