To Whom it May Concern:
On December 27th 2006 my husband and I stayed overnight at the Best Western Inn in Medicine Hat, AB. On January 4th i recieved a letter from your Guest Services Manager, Vicki Stock, informing me that their housekeeping department had discovered 'a distinct odor of cigarette smoke' in our room. She then proceded to charge my credit card with a $106.00 fee for shampooing, drapery and linen cleaning.

We requested a non-smoking room as we find the smell of cigarette smoke offensive to us. Should you require my Mastercard number in order to correct this unfortunate error, please contact me by phoning xxxxxxxxxxxx

I do appreciate your prompt attention regarding this matter, and look forward to resolve. If possible, could i have the name of the manager of this hotel to inform him/her of this error as well.

not to nit pick but you failed to mention the fact you did not smoke in the room :P

despite the underlying statement that comes across in the letter

You don't need to wait for the hotel to credit you. Call your credit card company and contest the charge. Whine about how bad the entire stay was and they'll probably charge back the entire bill to the hotel. Or at least have'em back out the add-on charge.

The hotel has almost no recourse to what the cc company does.

yeah that probably would have been a good idea.... hopefully thy will draw the right conclusion from stating that we both don't smoke. if not i'm sure they could ask me. I did call the credit card company, they told me to wait 30 days for them to return it, if not then dispute it.

they wrote me back with the standard message and i replyed that we did not smoke in the room or entertain anyone in our room that did smoke.

ps- the tigers really aren't that bad a team, we won the WHL conference a few years back... but medicine hat is still LOL

what i'm interested in, is how there are tigers in canada ? have they escaped from a zoo ?
