rave scene evolves. it changed from what it was even 4 years ago
my first rave-like event was a Hulla.
id say it had the most "rave" spirit of happy hardcore and candi kids hehe
now edm is commercialized so even the rave kids go after nicer venues (means payed for) and such.
last rave was probably last summer
now im just not into the music that they usually have there

HOLY CRAP!!! Too bad you didn't set an example right at the beginning. LOL Man did I get flamed for no reason. It's kind of ironic how some, out of fear that they might have nothing to add and in some silly way invalidates there party career ( ) , create angst and a bullshit adversarial viewpoint. Clearly so they "appear" to be operating from some basis of knowledge.

The remaining pages have amounted to a good read, so thanks everybody. After all, that's the kind of thing that I was looking for to begin with.

.....and why is it that the ones that have the least to say always pipe up and slam a thread theme (say that 10 times fast) right at the beginning?

Ok, I'm really sorry but I have a few comments/corrections

1) In the early years of rave transportation was not by shuttle bus (I think you are actually referring to mid-late 90s). Early raves were more underground. Parties that came later (such as Hullabaloo) were considered commercial raves and different from the 'early years'.

2) The large raves of the mid-late 90s don't exist in Toronto for reasons such as rave laws (and various other reasons). Insurance issues are mostly a side note. For example, Harvest festival is insured and it's on a farm (but not in Toronto).

3) It is true that the large raves of the late 90s no longer exist, however, there are still some parties that are very much like the ones in the early years (early 90s). There is still an underground scene in Toronto (it's just not very big).

4) Clubs like the Guv and Afterhours are NOT raves.

While the EDM scene is changing that doesn't mean that an afterhours club is now a rave. The vibe is different, the people are different, and the music is different.

While I went to Darkrave just this weekend I consider that more of a mainstream type commercial rave. I think that real (underground) raves have very little rules and don't happen in clubs/legal venues.

I love it when you do post Little Hulla! *heart* Miss you.

If it was under an overpass and you needed a map, then it was def gonna be a good rave-like party!

One day in 2007, I -WILL- hit up one of these parties with Michelle.

I need to experience!
