They've cost me some money and saved me a lot more compared to buying CD singles. If I buy CDs they're from USA store and there's some hassle there especially if you go across the border (car gets searched etc). But lots of tracks are still on CDs or vinyl only.
I find the MP3s sound exactly the same as WAV so the MP3 is fine with me. That's what I play out anyway and the WAV (if I have it) is just on a backup CD in a safe place.
Biggest pain is the Territorial Error where we can't buy some stuff while we're in Canada. Tracks on the Ultra label are really bad for this. Whoever has the rights to a track for Canada should smarten up and sell it to us on BeatPort.
And they need additional tracks that are a little more commercial and popular with infrequent clubbers. Like we don't all want to play underground tracks 24/7.
Sometimes they release or re-release over 2,000 tracks a week and most of them you've never heard before and will never want to hear again, tracks that will keep their producers and labels undergound and unknown for a good reason, they're so generic and boring.
Big complaint against BeatPort in the UK is that customers there are forced to pay a lot more than in USA or other parts of Europe.
Gripes aside, BeatPort is a +

This is when Mr. Soulseek shows up, and said label loses money because of it.
I HATE that territorial error.
However I still don't go download it on soulseek - I just move on. One track isn't worth that much effort to go download it elsewhere...

Exactly. That's the only time I ever use soulseek.

I don't have soulseek because I prefer to actually buy my music, and if I can't buy it, I won't download it either. I don't see that territorial error very often to warrant the hassle of installing something I wouldn't use otherwise.

Orko, don't you need a credit card to use paypal anyways?
No. I have PP hooked up to my bank account. Any transaction takes two weeks to pay, but I usually just move some money over and leave it there.
I would only buy the WAVs, for sound quality, and just so if i wanted to edit it, i could and not worry about quality loss.

I only purchase WAVs from Beatport... I wouldn't be using the site if it weren't for that option.
