Carl Cox said "if anyone could revolutionalize trance it would be PVD".

Let's be honest here, no doubt we all LOVE epic trance but its on its way out. It's gettin repetetive & its not fresh anymore.

We are Alive & Tell me Why are pure cheese!

Yeah well carl cox isn't exactly a pure trance DJ, if epic is on its way out then rank 1 wouldn't be so popular...just cause they don't play it at twilo doesn't mean its going out of favor. One more point if epic is going out of style why would airscape be such a popular remixer and why would the dutch DJ's be doing so well, next thing you'll say is that ARMIN is is getting played, i understand your point but at the same time the facts just don't back it up, great thing about the net though...you're entitled to your opinion..

Doesn't matter that CC isn't a trance DJ. Rank 1 is popular on this board. Most ppl don't even know Rank 1 is or that they play choons. Airwave is what got them recognized. Armin Van Buuren is far from played, he hasn't even made it to NY & neither has Johan Gielen. Airscape is good a remixer, but they're no Deep Dish.

Hehe mizz and twilogodess, u guyz are jokez...

I just thought about what u two were posting and I gotta say most people are not into trance as much as we are, they don't care if so and so song is this old or if so and so producer didn't just pop out yesterday, which isn't bad.. these are the peepz who will be having the most fun at parties/clubs that feature epic djs.. but for the peepz who are into the music and who are especially tranceaddicts like us, they will be bored of the stuff that we've listened to the last couple of years...

I love epic trance, but I rather have a break from it then listen to same ol shit.. I'm happy with the progressive style (true trance is progressive, but I'm talking about the form that is popular right now, most peepz call it progressive) soon we'll be sick of that and move on to something else, meanwhile non of us will forget about system f or gouryella or pvd cuz they will always rule, but I wanna not get to the point where I'm gonna hate them from being overplayed...

latez...

It's absolutely ridiculous trying to compare Airscape with Deep Dish, it's like trying to compare a car with a paintbrush!

*cough cough*
airscape's remix ability is seamless...
deep dish's is quite good too.. BUT

1) airscape is trance
2) deepdish is deep house
they are incomparable..

dissimilar..
non-synchronous..
outrageous..
airscape + deepdish in the same sentence = does not make sense.. unless the topic is "examples of remixers"

there..

I feel like bringing in a little controversy in this topic myself ...

From what I hear right now the trance released lately is getting worse and worse each week ... just listen through the sound samples on Juno. It's horrible ... it sounds like everybody is stealing samples, ideas, and melodies from a few tracks that used to be big two years ago. It just doesn't have the kick and creativity older releases used to be full of. I guess that's mostly why trance isn't as big as it used to be since everybody just got fed up with the same sound being recycled over and over again - and I blame the blatant commercialization of the music for this ... the cheesy catchy melodies seemed to sell really good so everybody just jumped on the bandwagon and started producing cookiecutter tunes. I used to be into epic trance a while ago but after hearing the same thing at every party it just gets very tedious. Give it another year and there will probably be a noticable split between the hard dark sounds of real trance (ie. the way it used to be to begin with - fast hard meanacing sounds with trippy hypnotic synth lines ... like Hardsequencer, or Members of Mayday pre '97) and the commercial Tiesto / Corsten / .../ fluff that gave trance a bad name.

I can totally see hardhouse follow the same path, even now a lot of people who used to swear by it are switching styles ...

and here's some comments ...

Infinity, you said that "DJ'ing hard house ain't easy.. "
Hardhouse / NuNRG is one of (if not THE) easiest style to spin ... takes very little effort and musical knowledge, mainly because the tracks are structured very simplistically and they have a very dominant kickdrum so it is very easy to match up the beats and bring two tunes together. With trance you need to blend in complex and layered melodies which is quite difficult (if you're doing it properly).

peace

to me..

deep progressive house...
is probably the easiest to spin..

i agree to a certain extent that HH is easy... but i wouldn't say that its that easy..
that would be too much of a generalization..
