so, no i don't see how this would differ from any other spam that we get here, apart from this being slightly better disguised as "not spam" but something to help out "the community" and "the scene".
it's just bullshit. if the guy really wanted to help out he'd recommend the free programs and participate on this forum otherwise than just trying to get free advertising (which is what he's doing now).

I get where you are coming from and agree in some ways. I'm just trying to take this from a different angle is all. I just still believe it's not even close to as bad as a lot of the other spam that gets spread all over the place on this forum.

would you love to have the forum 95% full of this kind of shit though? if your answer is no, then i can't really see how you could accept this but forbid others from doing the same thing. IMO the same rules should apply for everyone and if this kind of advertising is allowed then it should be allowed for everyone and that could really turn this forum to a pile of crap full of ads about some stuff related to djing somehow. i for one wouldn't want a forum like that. IMO the topics and threads on a forum are separate from advertisements trying to sell you stuff. sure ads can sometimes help you find the thing you've been wanting for a long time, but this forum isn't a place for them IMO and IMO there is no exception. that's the way i see it.

but now i'm off to bed as the battery on my mouse just died and i tired of navigating with my keyboard and the "remote control" on my cellphone.

The way I see it, this guys thread ain't half as bad as a lot of other user's pointless posts made on a regular basis. I won't say names, but even a blind man would be able to figure this one out.

How to use "Energy Boost" harmonic mixing

Here is a Copy/Paste from our forum. This is a useful technique that's frequently used by Paul Van Dyk and Sasha:

Overview

"Energy boost mixing" is a great technique to create energy on your dance floor.

How-To

Here is how to use it: Detect the key of your current song, and pick the next song to be 1 or 2 semitones above it.

If you're in C Minor, your next key should be D-flat Minor (+1 semitone) or D Minor (+2 semitones). Take a look at the image above. The rule is always the same, just go "right" on the piano from your original key.

The effect is really interesting: Energy on the dancefloor will rise every time. It doesn't work with every song, but most of the time it can create a pleasant effect.

Does this translate to Camelot numbers?

Yes. To go up one semitone, add 7 to your current Camelot number. If you're in E-flat Minor (2A), add 7. You'll be in E Minor (9A).

To go up two semitones, just add 2 to your current Camelot number. If you're in C Minor (5A), add 2. You'll get D Minor (7A). Play your next tune in 7A, and you'll experience an "energy boost mix".

We love mixing +2 semitones because it does not clash as much as mixing +1 semitone. Every DJ should try this mix. The effect is really interesting.

ummmm.....how about just use your ears. sorry but i have to say if you can't mix in key with your ears you are most likely tone def.

if two songs sound like shite together they're out of key. if they sound good they're in key. simple/

and yes, i am classicly trained. but before i knew what a note or key was i could tell which don't go togther well. its all in the ears. some have it some don't.

Oh god not this useless argument again so i guess marcus shultz, armin, blah bla blah are tone def as well since they tag their cd's with keys and bpm's. Why waste precious time "keying" with your ears when you can know instantly by looking down at your cd's.

Using that logic, why bother mixing at all? Just chuck a pre-mixed CD in and go get drunk at the bar.

Serato Scratch Live is a nice DJ tool and Mixed In Key will work just fine with it. Our Windows version can rename files to include the key/bpm in the filename. Both Mac and Windows version can write ID3 tags.

It's easy to use harmonic mixing with any type of DJ medium. It all started with vinyl in 1980s, so this idea isn't really new.

That wasn't his point - why are you so negative all the time?

His point was that you can prepare for you mix if you have the key written on the sleeve of your tunes, meaning swifter choice of keyed tune selection.

Wether you do it using software or your ears is, frankly, no one elses business but your own!

Personal choice. Therefore pointless discussion.
