i went to bonefish grill a while back.. i ordered steak med.. it came out seared on the outside but raw all in the middle. I sent it back 3 times and the doneness never changed. I finally asked was the grill on.

I have the opposite problem, I always order my steak rare. What I've found is typically they seem to overcook it assuming you don't really want it rare and what I get is medium, which is totally ruined for me and I send it back. I've started telling the waitress that I want it still cold in the middle, that tends to get the point across that I actually want a rare steak.

That's happened to me before, at other restaurants. After the second time, I just gave up - told them to send it back, and have it taken off my bill.

My best advice is to order a steak medium-well and a burger well-done. Around nine times out of ten, it's cooked correctly.
